There was a great shadow duel. The Shadow Realm, and Human Realm became one. Shadow games are now common place. Countless people have lost their souls. If one was challenged to a shadow game, and did not have a deck it was treated as a loss. They thus lose their souls. Humans near extinction, as Shadow games grow more, and more common. At the age of ten children are given Decks, and are sent to Duel Academies. However in this world not every duel is a Shadow game. If both duelists agree that it isn't a shadow game at the beginning of the duel then both players are safe. However if one person decides that it will be a shadow game, then the loser will lose their soul. Every eight years there is a dark tournament, and the winner gets one wish. Every duel in a Dark tournament is however a Shadow game. This year the Dark tournament is coming up, and you may enter the tournament. For right now you are students in the Kaiba University. This is your first year here. The damage during a shadow game, or a regular duel will be real. (to make things alittle more exciting.)

Rules:
1. You can not turn down a Shadow duel
2. your Duel Spirit can save you 5 times if you lose a Shadow Duel.
3. Duels against players are "unscripted."
4. If you duel an NPC you may call upon "The Heart of the Cards" (If you are losing, with the permission of the Duel DM, you may choose your next draw.)
5. You must buy new cards to improve your Deck. (Costs no real money, however you get money from duels. You can "Buy" cards off ebay, or Amazon. PM Drack a link of the card on ebay, or Amazon and he will take it out of your pool, and you get the card instantly.)

This is a reboot of 1000 years of darkness with ramped up action and plot. this rp will start in the second arc and continue on til it end.
you may create a character or choose from a list of NPC's that I have created. If you chose a NPC then pm me and I will pm you the character sheet of the character. the only condition is that you cannot change the core theme of said character deck. you may add or change up the deck to suit your style but it must stay within the core theme. Example(if you get a dragon deck keep at least half the monsters dragon. to me a dragon deck is a pure dragon deck not some deck with 5 dragons and the rest are warriors or whathaveyou.)
There will be some instances where you may die, it just depends on how you react to the situation your in.

Background: since 5 i Have been Training with my Grandfather. when I turned 10 my grandfather sent me to a private dueling school where I quickly ascended to the top of the class. by age fifteen i graduated from the private school with honors. it was for my Grandfather since while I was at school he died in the Dark tournament. since then i have devoted myself to finding the person who defeated him and send him to hell.

I may actually do the duel network this time. tho I don't know how we could record the duel and post it on here. unless whoever is dueling could copy and paste the conversation from the site. yugioh virtual desktop, I have no idea about it, me, Nexous, and Drack are more familiar with DN. if you have any suggestions on how we can make that work you would be AWESOME. I wanted to try it the first time around but couldn't find the time for everyone to watch the duel or whatever. if we can some how make it work all I ask is you stay in character as your dueling on the site.

Background:Due to his parents being pretty well off he didn't have much problems in life, but he found that boring since his parents always gave him everything except what he wanted, their attention, and so he thought about leaving for a while, maybe that would make them realize they actually have a son, he then managed to get accepted at the duel academy, he didn't plan what he would do once he got accepted though...but things will work themselves out, right?

Background:Elly has a rather average past, though she went through dueling school with above average grades she was hardly noticeable, as she got older she started developing her own style, and now that she's heading for Kaiba University she wants to try and make waves there and get noticed, be it in good or bad.

Sure I guess I'll join, but I've just recently "quit" Yu-gi-oh! in favor of MTG. So I have no idea on what the new summoning is. Also my first RP, kinda been afraid to interact with others, but I'm willing to do this.

Just before I post my info whats DM and Duel DM? Is short for Duel Moderator? Can I have more than one deck? Do we get put in the school ranks at random or do we pick? Is it possible to get more than one duel spirit?

DM is Short for Dungeon Master. They are responsible for the Role play and act as a sort of god. Anyway, they control every character that isn't the player and everything that happens around the player within the RP's world and story. They supply the main story/plot essentially set the rules of the world and how things work. A lot like a role playing video game, but you are your own main character and you have to expressed what you are thinking, doing, and saying within posts.

As for the Duel DM, I am only guessing, but they are doing a system where one guy is handling the main story related stuff while the guy is acting as the CPU opponent for the every character that isn't the player.

Yeah. Drack is the duel DM, he takes care of the duel system and if there is multiple duels he helps by acting as a npc. Tho i will check out the virtual desktop. As for multiple decks yes there is no limit to how many decks you want. Just send all your deck lists to drack. As for the school this is a continuation of a previous rp i started that wasnt doing so good so i decided to reboot in a sense. We will start on the mainland and go on from there. Your character can either be a student already or become one later.

Now which of the newer summoning methods are you unsure of Synchro Monster's, XYZ Monster's, of Pendulum Monster's because I would be happy to explain each of them."

What you plan to wish for if you win: To give each card a spirit of it's own and unite the duel monster spirit world with ours.

Background: Bison is not like many of the other students who went to schools to enter Kaiba Academy, he entered through his own dueling skills as he was scouted by officials who witnessed him dueling off a whole gang of shadow duelist. Bison was born in a family of Gipsies and was thought how to duel starting at the age of 5. His gipsy family would travel a lot and find rare and mysterious artifacts. One day his father and mother were attacked by some thieves who beat his parents in shadow duel and he ran away, hoping to get stronger to beat the thieves one day. Bison stays up all night thinking to himself about better duel techniques and never uses the time to really study.

Alright well this is pretty much all I know about Pendulum Monsters:
Pendulum Monsters can be activated from the hand as a Spell Card, by placing it in one of the two new Pendulum Zones on the field. While in the Pendulum Zone, it is treated as a Spell Card and not as a monster until it leaves the Pendulum Zone. After resolving, it will remain face-up as a Spell, and continues to apply its Pendulum Effects, if any though its Monster Effect's are not applied. Once you have a Pendulum Monster in each Zone during your Main Phase you can preform a Pendulum Summon, Summoning as many Monster's from your hand, or any number of Pendulum Monsters from their Extra Deck that are within your Pendulum's Scales.

For example: if I had Monster's in my Pendulum Zone's one with a Scale with a Scale 1 and another with a Scale of 8 I could Summon any card from my hand or Pendulum Monsters from my Extra Deck that are between the levels of 2 and 7. Also, if a Pendulum Monster would be sent from the field to the Graveyard, either as a Monster Card or Spell Card, it is placed face-up in the Extra Deck instead.

(Though, I wouldn't worry about Pendulum Monsters too much...it's probably going to be a while before they become TCG.)

Just a quick question does my Duel spirit have to be in all the decks or do my decks have a different duel spirit?

I'm planning on making my character, but looking at my RL cards. I realized a few things.

-I haven't gotten a new card since the Elemental heroes were still relatively new nor am I able to get new cards.
- With that in mind, I literally have only few cards that can qualify for the card crush and duel spirit slots that works with my playstyle(IRL): Command Knight, Elemental Hero Burstinitrix, Warrior Lady of the Wasteland, a couple of the Amazon/amazoness cards, and Guardian Kay'est which actually is an MG card. (This is provided I am not allowed to earn the chance to have a duel spirit and find my own card crush later on in the RP.)
- My knowledge of the game goes up to Yugioh 5Ds. I know of XYZ cards but that's the furthest it gets for me.(So I don't know the change in rules if there are any.)

Anyway, I hope to have my character sheet up and ready by later tonight.

ok so for anyone who doesn't know about xyz summoning, here is how it's done. xyz monsters have ranks instead of lvls. the cards will tell you how many monsters are needed to summon it. EX: a rank 4 xyz monster will say it needs 2 lvl 4 monsters. so what you do is once the 2 lvl 4 monsters are on the field you then place one on top of the other called "overlay" then take the xyz monster from the extra deck and place it on top of the "overlayed" monsters. the monsters will become xyz units which are used to activate the xyz monster's effect. some xyz monsters will need more than 2 monsters to summon it and some will say specific types of monster EX: water, warrior, etc.

@Robohero: your duel spirit is just one and you don't need the card in your deck. so EX: my duel spirit is poseidra even tho i have two decks he is my one spirit to protect me. so whichever DS you have decided on will be the one you will have. but it must be a card your character has.

OK for duels how about we just use Dueling network it's far more simple and less BS to get around. i'm trying to figure out YVD but have to deal with routers and this and that. either that or we keep using Dracks system.

Trust me, it's not as hard as it seems and once you have an idea, it will flow like water, but if Duel Network is needed, that could work just as well. If you are talking about the IP, trust me, it's like riding a bicycle. One you click duel, you will see connect and listen. Clicking listen will give you the IP. If that doesn't work, by checking the properties of your net connect on your computer, you can see your IP.

Sports a custom made duel disk that looks like a standard kaiba corp duel disk except it is chrome and can change color by what field spell is present or the current atmosphere. He also has a deck holster that he carries on his waist near his pocket.
Duel Spirit: (For the sake of having something there and she could qualify as an MG thanks to the MGE) Amazoness Paladin

What you plan to wish for if you win: Shadow Duel can no longer kill or remove the soul of a duelist.(But it won't change the fact you can still get hurt a lot in a shadow duel)
Deck List: Starting with his Warrior deck. When he has the cards, he will start working on having new decks to have fun work.(Haven't had the chance to make any more decks, but I plan on making some more when I can.)
Background: Flint is a duelist with an inventive streak. He likes to make all sorts of gadgets and at times he likes to tweak and tune up the duel disk he build based on a severely broken duel disk that used to be his father's duel disk. He doesn't remember much of his father since he's been missing since he was a little kid. The only thing that was even found that was even his was a broken duel disk with a single card. As a memento of his father, he kept the duel disk so he has something of his father. The card still remains with his mother who was very protective of him. It took a lot of work, but Flint managed to convince his mother to let him go to school at Kaiba University. Now he stands firm to enter the school with his a luggage of spare, tools, and his laptop along with the deck he managed to scrounge up together over the years.

Background: The only remaining son of the prominent Graves family who's wealth has risen due to their major investment in KaibaCorp. Alex has little regard for others and their feelings. Concerned only with his goals and what he wants, he is not above crushing anyone who gets in his way. He considers himself to be stronger than most others, a trait he inherited from his late older brother who taught Alex everything he knows about dueling. When he was 14, he watched his brother perish in a shadow duel with a long time rival who may or may not have cheated to win. Alex only wishes to find his brother's killer and get revenge for destroying the only duelist he respected.

Bio: My first duel was a horrendous loss, since then I have focused on improving my deck. I even once went on a trip around the world to practice dueling, and collecting cards. From this I have improved vastly, and have even won a Shadow duel. After that I got accepted into a Duel Academy. My confidence has improved vastly, and I now actively seek out duels.
