It's a really good game, at the the original is.. and it's actually a prequel to Secret of Mana and Legend of Mana.

1. Dawn of Mana.
If the name isn't enough, consider that the elemental spirits are having a council to discuss things that happened ages ago, with the consensus that they will assist humanity- which they do in all games that have Mana spirits.This also does a great job at the beginning of establishing the different States/countries in Fa'Diel.

2. Children of Mana.
This is officially confirmed to be 10 years after Dawn of Mana.

3. Final fantasy Adventure/ Adventures of Mana/Sword of Mana.
The cities described in Dawn are here, and the storyline sets up the last of the Mana tribe, and the last Mana Tree.

4. Heroes of Mana.
This is confirmed to be 19 years before Trials of Mana.

5. Trials of Mana.
The cities/states/countries described in Dawn are still present here, and the antagonists are trying to get the power of Mana, which falls in line with the lead up to the next game.

6. Secret of Mana.
First, all of the city-states are gone, replaced by different city/country names. However, when you go to Mandala, the recordings/orbs left by the "ancients" actually call out a couple of the state/country names in Dawn. They do have different spellings, but only by a letter or two, and this could be attributed to the degradation of the data. If that information is left by the "ancients" it means it happened forever ago. Additionally, the Mana Tree is destroyed.

7. Legend of Mana.
The Mana Tree has been destroyed, and it's up to you to re-create a world where the Mana Tree can return.

Legend of Mana is considered a stand alone "spin off" game and not a part of the main series. It still takes place in a world called Fa'Diel, but it's not a part of the "main" story from the other games.

As far as I know the only game that intertwined with Legend of Mana was the mobile game, Rise of Mana, which unfortunately bombed years ago.

See I bought the game, but I haven't played it much! I didn't get bored or anything, but for some reason I just can't get into it.

And nah, I have switched Mystia as my waifu lately. Already got my entire backstory for her, ZUN doesn't mind what people do with his characters after all (apart from lewding them of course)! He just wants to make neat music and colorful bullet games~

Elle is still great though, but not squee worthy like Mystia. I'm more into youkai than mamono these days. Mamono types have too much sexual connotations attached to them. You mention monster girl to anyone and they basically just count Okayado, MGE, and MGQ as the entire genre, which I tired of.

SOM3 RM is made really well though. My main issue with it is Kevin, everything about him his just bleh. I chose Hawk as my main since well , Hawkeye is one of the first people to make me Thief main (and Aeris make me a priest main). Hawkeye defines me a person when I'm at my best I think. Of course I picked the two lovely ladies (by the way Riesz was deemed loli for some reason, I can't see it) to follow along.

I'm liking the Duran to Eagle swap too. Eagle was awesome and a waste of a character!
