Terraria Otherworld

Not too much has come out, but so far the synopsis is this:

"Terraria: Otherworld places the player in a life-and-death struggle to restore a once-pristine world – now overrun by a malevolent force that has corrupted nature itself – to its original splendor.

Combining elements of sandbox gameplay with role-playing and strategy elements, Terraria: Otherworld explores the Terraria experience in an innovative and unique way - providing a fresh approach to the “open world” genre."

And we also have a trailer.

I really disliked the trailer, they made it too dark in my opinion (even if that was the point, I still didn't like it). I saw wings though, so they have my support.

Personally I'm skeptical because I like Starbound a whole lot more than Terraria, despite people calling it a rip off. Probably because I like sci fi settings more than medieval/Final Fantasy though. I also despise having harpies as enemies, and Terraria harpies are infamous for their treacherous behavior. The game practically FORCES people to slaughter and hate on harpies.

I'll may pick this up though, because I love sandbox RPGs. That is, if the harpies are tamable. Otherwise..it's going to take a lot to convince me.

I'm kinda upset by this. Terraria was supposed to be getting a large update with a grid tool for easier building. That's why I've been holding off on starting a new world. So I can start fresh with the grid tool.

I think you were supposed to be able to go to the moon too or something.

From here:

"For those that may be concerned about Terraria and the 1.3 update - don't worry a bit. We are still working as feverishly as ever to bring what we think is the most amazing update yet to Terrarians everywhere."

Though we won't be going to the moon. In fact, I think you might be disappointed.

I just can't explain how odd this feels. They're making a sequel that isn't really a sequel (in fact, it just looks like a graphical update) and they say they're still working on updating the original game as well. I'm getting weird ass Left 4 Dead vibes here.

Kudos if you get what I'm talking about.

At least we have Starbound then, for space travel, right? :) I thought Terraria was more about killing stuff with magic spam, more than exploring. That's pretty much all I ever saw in it's trailers and let's plays, anyway..
