Kid Icarus Uprising

So after 25 years after defeating Medusa, she went from looking like this...

Into this
Image

Okay. Anyways... :dong: Kid Icarus Uprising is a very fluid game. There are a lot of content on it, and I mean enough to keep you playing for hours...the insane amount of unlockables in it, even after beating the game, you still wont fully complete it :nono:

First, the one thing people always look for these days are the Graphics :wall:
Image
which rather piss me off :hate: since it's not about graphics, it's about gameplay, but I'll go into that more later :nerd: . The graphics are very nice considering how far the 3DS can go regarding visual effects, the 3D really does help with telling the depth of how far your enemies are, but if your eyes get disoriented easily, then turn the 3D off, but so far I have no problem playing it like that

Now for Game play :harp: .
The game play mechanics are pretty simple. There are air battles
Image
Air battles has a more star fox 64 mechanic, basically Palutena controls where you fly and all you have to do is shoot and dodge, pretty simple.

And land battles
Image
Land battles focus more on a beat'em up style, you can walk around,if your close enough, you use melee combos to attack, while in a distance, you shoot

One thing, in this game, if you haven't already seen the trailer for the game, the characters talk a lot in this game, they talk almost all the time, it can be distracting, but it's not something you can't ignore, or at the very least it shouldn't be too troublesome.

The game play is smooth and very easy to get used to. The intensity level or the Fiends cauldron can act as a difficulty measure, the more hearts you wager, the more enemies and the harder they get, but you pay lots of hearts which act like currency in the game to increase the level's difficulty level, if you die, you lose the amount you give. As for it's multiplayer, it's pretty much the same, but I'll get to that soon :goodjob:

Now for Controls
Image

The controls for the game tend to be hard. There are three basic controls, which uses the left circle pad to move, the touchscreen to move the retractile, and L button to shoot. While it sounds simple enough, it can be hard to control. Overall the controls are tricky, but adjusting to it won't take too long if played enough times :happyness:

Time for the Music
Image

The music in this game is simply fantastic. Some I would say even deserve to be considered to be one of Nintendo's finest. Not much to say, but listen to this.

I think Nintendo nailed it when it comes to BGM, nicely done

Multiplayer
Image

The Multiplayer is simply fantastic, even in online play, the frame rate doesn't seem to slow down enough to piss off players as it plays almost completely smoothly, at least for me it is :evilllol: . The online battles can be fierce so you always have to watch your back, you earn hearts for each match you do, but you can also earn some power ups and weapons. There are two modes, Light vs Dark and Free for All.

Light vs Dark works like a team based battle, there are three in each team, kill as many enemies as you can from the opposing team. Sometime later, a health bar that represents the teams overall life at toe bottom of the screen shortens, when it's gone, the last enemy killed will become the angel for their team, defeat the angel, and whatever teams angel dies first looses.

In Free for All, it's pretty self explanatory, you fight for your own, you kill the most, you win, simple as that.

My score in this game...
9.5 out of 10
The only bad side is the controls, but if you have a circle pad pro, then this can be a perfect 10 out of 10 game for me.

Nice review..Pit looks amazing and so does Palutena, but sadly the platform of choice and pen controls deterred me from ever buying this. =( Same with the new Zelda. I just can't get into Nintendo's gimmicky new gen controls..

I'm surprised this thread hasn't had much attention when it was made.

When I first got the game and beat it, I had a little trouble with the controls, since I'm a lefty, and default controls are made for rightys. I recently started playing it again, and switched the controls, so I could move with the A B X and Y buttons, and shoot with the R button. While it is helpful, it feels really weird, not using the circle pad for moving. I still accidentally use the circle pad, and accidentally switch to first person view when trying move forward. :haha:

Overall, I think it's a fun game. Beautiful graphics, hilarious dialogue, and neat features.

My favorite level is Pandora's Labyrinth of Deceit, because it's so weird, and just crazy.

With that said, here is one of my favorite soundtracks of the game.

The main reason I did not buy this is because of the controls. I never did like the Nintendo gimmick controls (Wii mote / touchscreen) because it cramps my wrists up and makes them numb. I actually ordered an accessory today hoping to help me out with this though. Apparently I wasn't the only one having issues with it's controls because of the poor ergonomics of it.

Strange. I never had problems like that, other than slight cramping, but that's because the 3ds is so small, and my hands are so big.

I'm hoping to get an XL, so I can have one that fits my hand size. I also hope to get the circle pad pro, so I can get back to using a circle pad to move, while still being able to have controls fit for a lefty such as myself.

I would of bought the XL, I heard it's more ergonomic, but I'm stuck with the 3DS 1.0 forever since it was released after I bought the 1.0. I don't have cash to blow to buy two 3DSes or selling one for another. Most reviews complained about the controls for K.I.U. though..so I'd probably have a hard time playing it.
