Resident Evil 3 Nemesis, trying to figure out how to shot but just tapping R1 then tap X instead of holding R1 and press X

It was a 286 computer. Didn't even run Windows.
It was a group of 10 games.

Atari 2600 and an 8086 computer (that was the precurser to the 286) Such games as Asteroids and Combat

The first video game I have recollection of actually playing was Wizards and Warriors - Fortress of Fear for Gameboy. It belonged to my brother.
