SimCity (2013)

Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone got this game, and is looking for people to play with.

I'd be happy to open up a region to do such in, though I'm still learning the ropes. I can't do an Oil Specialized town @.@ but I can do Ore and Coal, at least, and work into making Alloy and Metal, so that's cool now, and I can make money for the entire region. Anyway... If anyone's interested in playing, lemme know.

I was hesitant to buy the game after reading so many bad reviews. How is it so far? I'm curious how a multiplayer would actually work. Is it competitive?

I'm not going to get the game for a while. Damn DRM ruins what could be an extremely fun game...

Yeah that honestly was a major factor for me as well..

I heard Origin has spyware. Is that true? I'm a bit hesitant with allowing EA to scan my computer.

And from what I've read, the always-online DRM has made the game unplayable in the first few days. Talk about bad customer service...

Then again I don't even have the money to buy it. Still I already have SimCity 4 on Steam, so no big loss.

Spyware?! More and more things to worry about! :stunned:

It's not spyware per-se... but it's a clause in their EULA.

"You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services. EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services. We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you."

I used to thinking about pre-order it, until I heard about it is on origin and EA.

I hate EA and Origin

Hate to say it, but ever since Maxis was bought out by EA years ago...

Sad indeed, I've been a fan of theirs (Maxis and EA) since the 1st grade. :( Hopefully EA gets their priorities straight and save SimCity's good name. I don't get it, EA made so many of my favorite games in the past but now they have apparently fallen so low.. :(

Was EA ever good after they became a mega-corporation?

Also, I found this while visiting Simtropolis: http://bgr.com/2013/03/13/simcity-pr-ni ... is-372284/ Apparently, the pathfinding is shit.

I grew up on big EA titles like Mail Order Monsters, Racing Destruction Set, Archon, and M.U.L.E. so I hold a lot of fond memories for them. I also played SimCity since I was a little boy, so I love MAXIS as well. So all this new bad news is still shocking and disappointing to me. :(

EA was cool until they get greedy. :/

I loved their The Sims, Def Jam: Fight for new york and Battlefield 2. Then they begin these DLC plan

yes, the pathfinding is bad, but the game's not bad in and of itself. I only recently noticed the shitty pathfinding, myself.

Also, Simcity 4 was under Maxis/EA, and it's been the best one yet (not counting SC2013), AND it had modding ability.

The game's expensive, atm, so yeah, I guess you should wait a few months til the price dies down, but i've enjoyed it, thus far. The upsetting thing is, it's not as fun without other people. *shrug* I don't mind playing by myself, but when you have a group of people working together to make a great region it's even more fun, IMO.

EDIT: Also, i don't know about the spyware thing. Avast doesn't pop up to yell at me about it, so I assume it's safe. Also, feathers, who is that in your avatar, if you don't mind my asking?

huh.. She's pretty. and a gryphon you say?

*chuckle* I made a Gryphon custom MG a while back, but she was a little more... bestial in design. Made it too hard to find an image for her so no one's done so T-T

She was basically done the same way as a Dragon is, in her design, but with the appearance and lore of a Gryphon. I'll see if I can find it and upload it here... I think I lost it when MGUCom shutdown, though.

EDIT: Found it! posted it too. - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1863&p=46988#p46988

...think I'll stick with the Original version, or maybe the SNES version over this

Original version is the best in my opinion. Do you still have the original code sheet? I lost mine. :(

@ Feathers: No, after 3 moves that code sheet's gone :sigh:

I did find it interesting that they were saying *online-only was what we wanted, because we like that idea (essentially) and even though there were many that didn't mind the offline versions, heck with them*, and when someone modded it to be offline, it was *well, yes, I suppose you could do it offline...but what's the fun in that??*

What's the fun in creating a city, then destroying it through a bunch of disasters, then rebuilding it? A lot of fun in my mind...
