Been seeing posters of this game everywhere at work, anyone try it yet? Is it really a worthy rival/successor to Pokémon?

Personally I'm not too fond of that front view battle system and the not-so-cute yokai (I blame Touhou). Don't know though, I'd probably have to try to get the full experience.

The intro to the game is DEFINITELY a huge nod to Pokémon. Though they threw a curve and DAD was downstairs instead of MOM.

This game has so many cool yokai to look at. I've been following the series for a while.

It's nice and the yokai are pretty interesting even if some are more disturbing than half the pokemon with disturbing stories. Really like Slush and how it can freeze water around it despite being a e-rank yokai.

I saw one that maybe BRI would be interested in: http://yokaiwatch.wikia.com/wiki/Insomni

Saw a mermaid / Ningyo (very cute) and Yuki-Onna and also the long neck woman one (forgot name). No other Monster Girls that I've seen though. Tengu are male of course.

Would you guys recommend Yokai over Pokémon Alpha Sapphire? I can only get one of them at the moment.

Pokemon Alpha Sapphire I'd pick. I have Ruby and don't regret it. Though if you want to deviate from the badges and evil organizations I recommend Yokai Watch. Be warned that getting a yokai to join is harder than throwing a poke ball and expecting capture.
