Unless the western styled umbrella has an eastern flare to it if you catch my meaning. The design of the actual umbrella could play a big part on their appearance, even to what they wear.

Well... They pretty much have to have such "flare", I mean Karakasa are native to Zipangu and just imagine the amount of time a western umbrella had to spend in that foreign land before getting life, it would be downright impossible for it to not mimic (to an extent) the appearance, style, mannerism and speech patterns of Zipangu (however, that would kind of make her... some kind of a weaboo ^^U):

Though I do have to wonder if they all wear sandals or all the footwear keep the stilts.

I guess that pretty much that depends on the umbrella/parasol they were before gaining life.
I don't picture a western styled umbrella wearing geta for instance...
