Maybe having her be more sociable comes after her getting over the paranoia that some random girl you talk to will be trying to take you from her...wait a minute never mind. She might be more sociable with guys...err...I guess that won't work either. I can just see it:

Guy 1: Yo!
Oomukade's guy: Sup! I'd like you to meet my new girlfriend.
Oomukade: He's mine!
Guy 1: What?
Oomukade: I know you want to steal him from me...
Guy 1: Uh...I don't swing that way...
Oomukade: You're just saying that to make me think you don't want him...I know better than that!

She is almost like a Lamia (even in regards with her obsession with her prey)

That fanart is simply adorable. Sure she will most likely keep you intimately connected to her for the rest of your life, but hell, she's one devoted loving MG. And I love affectionate types like her! She crawled her way to my top 5, only behind by the Bubble slime for sure

The Oomukade is actually part of Japanese mythology. There are depictions of giant centipede monsters in ancient drawings from stories the Japanese had. Most likely (if not absolute certainty) Kenkou got his inspiration from the tales of giant centipede monsters in Japanese folklore.

Haven't seen it, but know about the anime

I got to thinking, given how certain mamono are region specific, what would one that travels outside that area be like - like an oomukade that's used to dry arid regions travel to a land where the locals are complaining that it seems to rain every other day and they are sick of the rain?

The thing is that it is unlikely that an Oomunake would travel outside her "domains",
specially since suepanguese humans regard it as a "monstrosity" and would act
with hostility towards her. And if she does, it would be for male-catching purposes,
returning to her hole alongside her new acquisition afterwards.

Also, the only reason for a region in zipangu to be constantly rainy and with
humidity would be due to a Ryu getting gang-banded in her "berserk mode" very frequently...

Actually, since Zipangu is modeled after Japan, there is a rainy season (late May to the end of June) where it is frequently rainy and the humidity is through the roof.
