Hey look, an Absol.
(Yes I know that there's a certain Touhou character, that goes into "full Nagamon mode" every time a full moon (and a palette change) happens, based on the same creature... and it's obvious that Kenkou took her as a foundation for this entry... But quite frankly, there's life outside Touhou and the first it comes to my mind every time I see the name "Bai Ze" is Absol).

Lookswise she pretty much looks like the fusion of that certain Touhou character and a certain fruit named Chinese scholar/doctor, which is pretty much what I guess he was trying to aim at: the hot Chinese scholar archetype (which somehow fits the creature she's based on).
I save my two cents until her translation is around but I hope she ends up being more similar to the crature she's based on (be it the original Chinese myth, the Japanese adaptation or even a mix of both) than that certain Touhou character... Please no more "caveing", we already have plenty of mindless "cavey" entries already...

.P.S.: The only thing it bothers me is the name... Why not using Bai Ze? For the "Panda Man" he used Chinese for her name... Why not here?

If she's a teacher, can I get some one-on-one learning? And if need be, I'll fake an injury to see Dr Hakutaku! (and shove BR out of the way, this one is mine!)

That makes two of us. Seriously, KK's been playing Touhou lately.

Looks-wise, she looks great; I LOVE scholarly types. But just like Kaijin, I'll save my two cents until the translation arrives. :nerd:

Let's see... given this statement: "(The beast) predicted that a deadly plague would sweep through in the next few years. The beast prescribed that its own image be used as a talisman to ward off the disease, and since then the hakutaku has been worshipped as a guardian spirit of herbal medicine." I would guess less teacher, and more a doctor/healer.

I personally asked KC, it is actually Kanji/Japanese version not the Chinese version "Xiongmao Ren"

Yes for that specific story, but they are also known in general for being very intelligent and knowledgeable, hence the teacher aspect.

More like your average "eroge sensei" if you ask me... But hey, not complaining though.

This one is actually not bad, it's mildly faithful to its mythical counterpart (well the Japanese adaptation of it) and thank goodness that for once in a blue moon the artist has decided to stay the hell away from the "mindless cavey monster" archetype (We're already got plenty of those thank you very much).
Lookswise she pulls off the whole "hot Chinese scholar" archetype quite nicely and behaviourwise she pretty much is the enbodiment of your average "eroge sensei", which is actually surprisingly pleasant (I feared much worse than this).

Overall, she's quite a nice entry (Not a favourite of mine, but I'm not disliking her either).

.P.S.: I still wish she was to be called "Bai Zé" rather than "Hakutaku", but hey... beggars can't be choosers...

Well slap a marker in my buttocks and call me an encyclopedia! She's so damn good! :perv:  :nosebleed:

Scholarly, hungry for knowledge, genius learner and teacher, master and expert at everything, helpful to many and worshiped by many others...

To quote a certain skeleton, ''She's meeting all of my standards!'' :goodjob: :hellyes:

It seems like someone has just made it to my TOP3, along with the Anubis and the Jinko.

Damn now that is one attractive mamono! Pray though that if you encounter one, a Bicorn is NOT in the same vicinity!

*reads bio* DAMN...I might have to rearrange my top 3! I like that KC spent a good deal about the bio explaining her sage-like qualities and just didn't jump into *sex sex sex* like he's been lately. *So, Sensei, can you teach me how to like those mamono that I dislike...?* I must admit I'm curious what would happen if a Hakutaku and a mamono that's all sex like a succubus were in the same room though...

A succubus may not be the best example, as while they are even more into sex than non-succubi, the average succubus isn't "all sex all the time" as referenced in the settings regarding how succubi use pleasure runes:

The size used by the succubi is typical, and allows them to function in daily life and have sex normally, while enabling them to experience even greater pleasure.

In other words succubi actually willingly restrict their use of pleasure runes for the sake of things that don't involve sex.

A better example would be monsters who follow the Fallen God, but even they can be intellectual (as dark angels are noted for), so a hakutaku could likely have a good conversation with them, most likely about sexual matters.
