Oh geez, not another one of these. Personally, I'm tired of kickstarters paterons and early access games that never seem to get released. >_< Still waiting on Shantae MN9 Landmark and Starbound. NEVER AGAIN! I lost my faith in the "buy now and get later" schemes to be honest. Now it's even worse.

Anyone seen the PC Battlefront release? You buy an empty box and there is no game inside. So it's moving to "buy now and download later". Publishers assume that everyone has mega fast internet and forget about the <6 mpbs underdogs. -_-

No, apperentally it's something called "Fig", which was explained about in the article.
the article wrote:Fig allows people to actually invest in a game and share in its profits, rather than dealing strictly in "donations" like Kickstarter, Indiegogo and other crowdfunding programs. Last month, Bailey announced that Fig would allow non-accredited people (meaning: people who aren't millionaires) to invest in its games alongside SEC-accredited investors.
And I think I will leave this here. Lyrics to the Mario Brothers theme.

Wow... Hideo Kojima got shafted hard by Konami, who refused to allow him to attend a 2015 Video Game Awards. Man I never felt such hatred and contempt for a company...
(And yes Hideo actually flipped the bird in the picture, unlike the usual bird-flipping photoshops in this guy's channel)

For those who don't want to hear a profane tirade.

My god...

I heard about that but, man, I thought the whole stuff was a hoax because I think the last shred of respect I had for Konami was telling me that. But, said shred of respect now lies in the floor, twitching as it died.

Between the PES Steam fiasco, the FREAKING HORSE ARMOR DLC for MGSV(yes, you read that one right, Horse Armor...) and the Castlevania Pachinko machines, now it seems 300% clear that Konami is trying to make itself hated by its userbase at a level one might think of it as some sort of Corporate Suicide.

It's as if they want to stop existing, but instead of just closing the company, they want their whole userbase to storm their headquarters, lynch all their executives and set the place on fire.

Seriously, I think they've just soundly surpassed EA and Actvision in terms of consumer contempt.

All that said, I wonder what will the Mighty Jimquisitor say about this, as he's the Founder, Spokesman and President of the #FuckKonami group.....

So, think Konami is up for the Shittiest Gaming Company award, or will EA hold the trophy?

Hmmm..... Nah, I think EA will hold it, unless Konami starts releasing reskinned versions of MGSV as new MGS games for a few years, hahah.

More than angry my curiosity is loosing it's shit. I really wanna know what is going on in Konami for them to make such... delusional decisions! What angle are they playing at I wonder. What could possibly be the end game?

The jimquisition touched a bit on how the workplace inside konami is.

Its shit.

As for Konami fucking Kojima over...well, they are not gonna be relevant in the near future anyway.

Let alone the fact that Kojima will probably get hired by another company in less than a year or two, I guarantee it.

If they do make it, Im willing to consider Capcom fully redeemed for all the shit they pulled in the last few years.

they've been working on redeeming themselves imo.

I think EA will still hold the trophy for Worst Gaming company... but Konami is going to give them a run for that title.

I don't understand why Gaming companies do this trash, honestly. I understand going different ways and so forth, but changing what makes you famous and getting rid of what fans what?

I rarely play Konami or EA (which was awesome in the 80s/90s) games anymore so I can't say much, but I heard their games are usually quality with evil DLC.

Maybe they are seeing how far they can get away with it? Just look at how far Nintendo (no offense to fans but all their accessories and stuff drives my wallet crazy) got with Amiibos, DLC, lack of power cord (lol), constant DS upgrades, etc. These guys are just too obvious that they are trying to be devious. I think the best targets are always the parents when it comes to video game scams. I see on a daily basis at retail, parents giving in and grabbing a whole set of Skylanders and Disney Infinitys. It's insane.

Sadly, that's because most AAA Game Companies have reached the point where they simply don't care about customer satisfaction anymore; they'll just produce the same re-skinned shit on higher definition and with more ''blingy'' add-ons and lie to their customers until they decide to buy it. Once the customers paid, who cares about them not liking the product? They already got the money to keep milking the franchise.

Also, it's a sad reality that part of the blame for that lies in the very consumer base. Y'see, the gamer demographic it's still composed in at least two thirds of it size by children and teenagers, and these usually don't buy the games themselves; their parents do it for them. And unless they were born with the blessing of having at least one gamer parent, there's a far chance they'll buy the game based on nothing but the box art, age rating and maybe the retail employee's recommendation. Regardless of if the child liked the game or not, the company still makes a buck.

And since engaging in this kind of practice ''theoretically'' doesn't go against the law and it's far cheaper and faster that making the effort to make a good game, almost all AAA Studios just stick to that....

This is why I kinda like smaller companies and indie devs. Right now with the shitstorm these guys are brewing... It is almost like they are attempting a sort of self sacrifice for the indie developers. This is definitely their time to shine indie games are only going to get more and more widely common, especially when there are companies producing engines and platforms for people to work with, Rpgmaker, GameMaker, Unreal Engine (Which is free, save for a 5% royalty when you release games).

Like I said, If I didn't know better it's like AAA companies are shooting themselves in the foot on purpose to open the way for indie titles.

Don't forget Unity, which is probably one of the most popular ones now as well (as RPGMaker has grown a tad stale in many groups).

And yes, the time is nigh for the indies to rise. In fact, some ppl say that the world of games has come full circle back to the 8-Bit Era and the 2nd Generation Consoles, and that the only reason The Great Video Game Crash of the 83 hasn't repeated itself (yet) is because all of the game companies have some sort of alternate revenue income (namely, they make cash with something other than games) and that all of the Golden Age Legends are deserting their AAA Publishers to become Indies (in the 80s, sadly, those legends hadn't risen to fame yet), giving the players a new glint of hope.
DragkeirDradon wrote:Like I said, If I didn't know better it's like AAA companies are shooting themselves in the foot on purpose to open the way for indie titles.
Funny you mention that, as that is IN FACT, what many Conspiracy Theorist believe is behind all of this hubris and contempt AAA Publishers have been showing for the late decade. They believe that the AAA Publishers want to go drop games as a whole, but no one is brave enough to be the first one to jump the shark(some say Konami did it with their ''We're done with Consoles'' announcement, but rumor has it that they took it back), so instead, they're trying to push things to the extreme where some sort of ''chain reaction'' starts and they can all drop games at once.

IMHO, I don't believe in such a theory, but after seeing what Konami just did, I am seriously started to wonder....

Yeah, the Independent devs are definitely cashing in on this one. I wouldn't doubt if some of them would be just as nasty if they were corrupted by all that wealth too. It's not any better though, now we are stuck with 1000s of awful RPG Maker and Unity games and it's impossible (well, extremely difficult) to even tell what game is halfway decent. X_X
