Pokemon Sun & Moon

Post by Saiake »

Hello Pokemon Fans. :hi:

Many of you may know this Already, but Tomorrow, February 27th, Marks the 20th Anniversary of Pokémon. Its Amazing to think just how long this series has been a part of or lives, and it starts to make you feel a little old recalling memories getting your First Starter, Catching your first wild Pokémon , Beating your first gym leader and eventually becoming the Pokémon Champion. I was a late bloomer for the Series, and Started in Gen 3 with Ruby, but my love for the series is as strong as any other, and has only grown with time. Enough about myself though.
:^^;:

Today to Commemorate this Japan (to which its already the 27th :sigh: ) Announced Directly from Pokemon Company Office in Tokyo Japan the Reveal of Generation 7, Aptly named
Pokemon: Sun and Pokemon: Moon Versions

Not much is known so far, other than that for the first time the game will be Available in 6 languages worldwide, including for the first time both Traditional and Simplified Chinese. It also announced the Pokemon from the Ports of Gen 1 will be able to be stored in Poké Bank and will even be able to be Transferred to Sun and Moon Respectively. (though they cant be Transferred to and of the currently Gen 6 titles).
:stunned:

A Few Flashes of the Trailers screen hint at some new designs but nothing really standing out yet. We'll simply have to wait for more information to arise. I wish i could say more but theirs not much to say yet, just know that I'm as excited as anyone else here, and am looking forward to the release late this year.

:serenade:

Should my eyes fail me, I will still see thee. Should my ears fail me, I will still hear thee. Should I lose my legs, I will still walk to thee. Should my voice depart, I will sing of thy. Should my arms break apart, I will hold thee with my very heart. Should my heart cease to pound, I will sing of thy with my soul. Should my soul be broken, then I shall... Embrace thee... With my blood...

Helloooooo Moon!

And you know, I might get Yellow now. Never played that one.

Oh, and just for shits and giggles, find your earliest gen game, and let us know what you got in the party!

For me, in Red:

Victreebel
Articuno
Rhydon
Charizard
Raichu
Starme

And had 143/151 pokemon.

I want to be excited, but beyond the names this announcement gave us nothing so I mostly feel frustrated at the lack of knowing. :tantrum:

Also, we only doin' this for Gen 1 or all generations?

I'm going to get Pokemon Red this time, and Pokemon Moon.

Sadly I sold most of my old stuff years ago, and my Pokemon Silver for the GBC battery died... I had over 200 pokemon on that cart including Mew. T.T

...9
The 7 languages both X/Y and ORAS had to choose plus Traditonal and Simplified Chinese.

Anyway, this has picked my interest... specially how the pokémon transfer from Gen I will work.
Gen I had no natures, no genders, the stat distribution was different (Sp. Att and Sp. def were fused into Special).

Oh well, time will tell... We have almost a year to find out I guess.
And Kaijin you are the "Perentie" of this place, IMO.

As for my team:

Charizard
Mr. Mime
Snorlax
Nidoking
Pikachu
Vaporeon

Saw 128/151, only had 16.

That's something I've been wondering myself, but I'm guessing either the virtual versions of gen 1 will function like later gens mechanically to some degree or at least have all that data stored internally for the single purpose of those transfers.

What really makes me curious is all the weird stuff this will allow us to legally have. Like, say, Fissure No Guard Machamp, because yes, No Guard currently allows for OHKO moves to bypass accuracy checks like any other move, meaning Machamp will get the ability to KO anything that isn't flying, levitating, sturdy or sashed in a single hit.
:what!?:

Fissure No Guard Machamp
You have a point there.
Fissure was a TM in Gen I and Machamp could actually learn it there... I wonder if people in Game Freak have realized about this by now (I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't, a lot of people have surely forgot about some of Gen I quirks by now), because can become something incredibly nasty AND spammable in competitive gaming.
And Kaijin you are the "Perentie" of this place, IMO.

I wonder if Pokemon GO will have any Gen 7 stuff in it. So much hype.

You know a new gen means a new addition to the anime. Hello new girl for Ash to travel with, hello Pikachu getting weakened somewhat, and hello new additions to Ash's pokemon collection after reaching 5th or 3rd place.

Yesterday in American territory.
Europe and Australia got the event running on Monday instead.

On both cases the event will end on March 24th... And it's nice of them that this one (and hopefully the rest of monthly events will follow suit) is obtainable by Mystery Gift rather than serial code (getting Mew in Spain was quite a pain... so was Hoopa...).
And Kaijin you are the "Perentie" of this place, IMO.

From what I'm reading... One-hit KO moves are unaffected by No Guard.

Flare wrote:From what I'm reading... One-hit KO moves are unaffected by No Guard.
This is pretty questionable I'd say, all other sources I've seen say that No Guard affects OHKO moves, though it is difficult to test that out due to no pokemon with No Guard having access to OHKO moves at the moment.

For example, here is a copy-paste Bulbapedia's article on OHKO moves: (With me highlighting the important part.)
Spoiler: show
One-hit knockout moves (Japanese: 一撃必殺わざ one-hit knockout move), commonly abbreviated as one-hit KO moves or OHKO moves, are moves whose effect is to immediately drop the target's HP to zero. When such a move successfully hits, the game will display the message "It's a one-hit KO!" (or simply "One-hit KO!" in Generation I).

All OHKO moves have a base PP of 5. In Generation I, their accuracy was a constant 30%, but they would automatically fail if the user's Speed stat was lower than the target's. In later generations, they instead automatically fail if the target is of a higher level than the user, and their accuracy starts at 30% and increases by 1% for each level the user is above the target. For example, if the user is 70 or more levels higher than the target, the move will have an accuracy of 100%.

The accuracy of OHKO moves are fixed to the above formula, and will not be affected by Accuracy or Evasion stat stages. For example, holding a Wide Lens will not make OHKO moves any more likely to hit, and using Double Team will not make them any less likely to hit. However, any effects that cause a move to completely ignore the accuracy check (such as the Ability No Guard, or X Accuracy in Generation II or earlier) will allow OHKO moves to always hit.

A Pokémon with the Ability Sturdy will be unaffected by OHKO moves, unless that Ability is negated (such as through Mold Breaker or Gastro Acid). A Pokémon with Wonder Guard is also immune unless it is weak to the type of the OHKO move; this is the only functional difference when these moves are super effective. At full HP, a Pokémon holding a Focus Sash will instead be reduced to 1 HP by any OHKO move.

In the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series of games, OHKO moves can hit regardless of level, although they are very prone to missing as always. When one hits, the game states that the target fainted through "calamitous damage" (changed to the standard "It's a one-hit KO!" in Gates to Infinity). However, they actually do 9999 damage, which can be seen when the attacks are reflected by IQ skills such as Counter Hitter if the Pokémon is revived by a Reviver Seed.
