Alrighty folks! Today i had some spare time and the desire to work on my VN, so i did. I have been fiddling some with it's functions, added some butons here and there, and now i even went and made a quick trial version to test it's functionality.
While it doesn't have any backgrounds, characters or menu's yet, all the text and script elements are there, along with some BGM's and sound effects, so you can go through the entire story already. (you can also read it here, so it's not much of a spoiler :p)
The only buttons that function right now are the Start button and the Exit button. :P
If you wanna take it for a spin, you can get it here:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ktwh75pf4x7g ... NWpda?dl=0
(your virusscanner might act up when trying to run it, due to not being from a registered publisher (i wish :p), but other than that it works fine :3)

(Though be warned, the music and sounds can be obnoxiously loud, i'm still trying to fugure out how to fix that. :/)

Since visual novels are technically called games, could you please make a thread in the game development forum? It's probably going to buried in your thread here anyway, since you post lots of different stuff.

Also, downloading now.

*swoops in with the obligatory list of WIP pieces*

Heyo, just thought i'd stop by to post some of these works in progress! ^owo^/

So the first one is pretty much done actually, and will get digitized later, but the requester offered to do that himself as soon as he fixed his PC again. Basically he wanted me to draw his pone OC in a maid outfitt. Had to do a bit of research since it was my first ever pone drawing, but i think it turned out pretty darn good. :3
Spoiler: show

Next up is this drawing for someone else. Her RP character is an AI with a cybernetic catgirl avatar, which she asked me to draw as well. Still have to fix up some things here and there and add the hair, but overall she's almost done. :3
Spoiler: show

Then there's also one of my models that i did some more work on. I started making the torso piece for the little one. :J
Spoiler: show

And las but not least it's one of my own chars, one that Feathers in particular might like. It's a WIP of the digital version of my first 30DMGC, Juditt. :D

Thanks Raet! Working on that right now. :3
Messing around with the colour scheme a bit. The requester said she wanted her with a mostly black with neon green colours, but i added a few extra accents here and there with some mechanical brass colours and a darker green which looks kinda close to circuitboard material. :3

I really recommend working with less saturated colours and building them up. In other words instead of choosing the tones with lots of colour use tones with less colour in them.

Image

The reason why my colours look better than before is because I have been using unsaturated colours.

Ehh, i dunno.... I've given it a few shots but it doesn't look all that great to me on this pic.
Besides, she's meant to be a gynoid so in that case very artificial looking colours with high saturation would work better IMO.

I've desaturated the colour as far as i'd like them to be, any more and she'd start to look very..... what's the word....bland?
Screenshot 2016-08-26 15.02.20.png
Also i'm still adding shading and gradients later, so the colours are getting more intricate later on in the process. :)

On Juditt it worked fairly well though. :3

Well the point is to build up layers on top of that till it becomes saturated the base is usually desaturated. Also try experimenting with colours like mix a layer of blue in for shadows.

Oooooh i see, that makes more sense. I missed the building up part there, oops. ^^;
I usually don't use multiple colour layers, as i nornally stick to simple cellshading and such. Not sure how i would go about building layers over it though. :/

Well seeing as you have layers, for a start, the next layer should be a darker shade of the colour or better yet, a darker shade of a different colour, but you need to check which one you are happy with. think of where the light is coming from, and then place the darker shade on areas where you would find shadows. Once you have drawn it, then drop the opacity of the layer until the two colours mix.

Kind of, you can't just use a gradient tool, you have to draw in the details yourself. have a look at my lamia's arms or pretty much any of KC or Oyakado's stuff. Shading is very important, but using the correct colours to shade is equally important.

Yeah, i get that. That pic probably wasn't the best example, but there's a seperate layer of shade under there, in some places it shows through, but overall it's overpowered by the gradients. :/

I myself haven't delved much into different colours for shading, i want to improve my shading geometry and such before i get into that. :J

Sketched most of it in class (pretty uninteresting lecture), then lined and shaded it at home. :3
