Well, that's what they're saying about it on Serebii, anyways.

Lugarugan was revealed in the October 2016 issue of CoroCoro. It is the evolution of Rockruff, but has a unique feature. It has two different forms depending on when it evolved. If it evolves during Daytime, it'll have the standard Midday Form, but if it evolves at Nightime, it'll have its Night Form.

I just now noticed something in Rockruff's description.

"It’s said that it leaves its Trainer’s side to evolve and returns again when fully evolved."

This may mean it needs to be traded in order to evolve, and what version it's traded to depends on how it evolves, and if it's nighttime in Sun/Daytime in Moon, it won't evolve until the approprate time.

If this is so... man that's complex.

Heard that Night Luguran gets counter and Day Luguran gets accel rock. Not sure which move is preferable but I do like the night design and will hold judgment for now.

Saw how the Zygarde cells are gathered and two more Ultra Beasts. We got one that makes me think of a bug and another that is a muscly bug. Convinced at least they aren't pokemon and something to. . . destroy.

And they dropped a Ultra Beasts trailer. Certainly know how to make an entrance, and kind of debunks the "Ultra Beasts are human-created" theory.

Well... That was underwhelming to say the least.
A "trailer" that is not even a minute long (it should be considered as a teaser) and barely shows anything? Honestly I was expecting more, heck... A teaser regarding Rockruff's split evo would have been way more informative than this official licensed clickbait.

It's a English trailer, so we can't really expect new information there.

I am with Zadocfish however, all mystery MegaPokemon had in-game in XY was ruined by their constant exposition before release date. It would be nice for them to leave some mystery for us to discover.

It's a English trailer, so we can't really expect new information there.

With due respect but considering that previous Western localized trailers have been between 2 and 3 minutes long in a regular basis and showing content in the past... We can pretty much expect some info there.

But hey to each their own I guess... I'll patiently wait for the next true informative batch (September 20th was it?)... And hopefully I can get a nice surprise out of it.

It'd be great if they included in Sun/Moon some way to get the special moves for event pokemon like Victini. Competitively the anniversary Victini is pretty useless compared to the version that came with V Create and Bolt Strike.

And now, the new pokemon!



Passimian is a Fighting-type Pokémon. It has the new Ability Receiver, which copies the Ability of an ally who faints in battles such as Double and Triple Battles. Passimian only appear in Pokémon Sun.



Oranguru is a Normal/Psychic-type Pokémon. It can have either Inner Focus or Telepathy as its Ability. This Pokémon can exclusively learn the new move Instruct, which makes the target use its most recent move again immediately. Oranguru only appear in Pokémon Moon. (I sense trolling potental with this one)

And we got a final conformation on Rockruff's evolution.

Lycanroc (known as Rugarugan in Japanese), the evolved form of Rockruff, has been revealed for the first time outside of CoroCoro. Rockruff evolves into a different form of Lycanroc depending on whether the game is Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon; it evolves into Midday Form in Pokémon Sun, and into Midnight Form in Pokémon Moon. Lycanroc is a Rock-type Pokémon in both forms. Lycanroc Midday Form can learn Accelerock, a new damaging move exclusive to Lycanroc which is guaranteed to strike first (it is shown being executed before Ice Shard). Lycanroc Midnight Form can learn Counter.

And the Pokemon Bank is also getting a new update, having a Pokedex added, as well as compatability with the Gen 1 VC games via PokeTransfer.

Also, we see a new mechanic: Affection, which is built using the "Pokemon Refresh". Pokémon Refresh lets players clean them up, care for them, feed them Poké Beans, and even cure status conditions like poison and paralysis. And very affectionate pokemon can even endure a KO blow, and avoid attacks easier.

Too bad the Pokebank update is in January, not November... meaning we have to wait at least 2 months before we can transfer from Gen 1...

Character customization is back and girls can finally wear sandals. Also Pikachu gets a Z-Move which surprises no one.

I seem to have missed an update due to technical issues, and to be honest the thing that thrills me the most is that finally will be able to get rid of the hats in customisation (the only reason I chose Callum over Serena in X was because I was unable to remove her hat, only change it)... Which is good news since other than the cow udder she wears on her head I actually prefer the female main character's design this time around (the male is way too generic).

Also I'm disappointed in Rockruff's evolution method I was expecting a day/night evolution method... not a PAY TO EVOLVE (You want both? That's 100 € my friend ¬¬), I'm also surprised the midnight form is pure Rock type (I expected a Rock/Dark) but I still prefer midday form's design and exclussive move.

I guess I'll be picking Sun version this time around (even if Solgaleo's mere existence triggers me greatly).

That was called Pokémon Amie, and had the very same effects you mention... So it's far from being a new mechanic, it's a slightly altered/recycled one.

True if one simply wants to have both forms, but it is complicated a bit if one wants to get one that has good stats, the right nature and ability, etc. all of which can be chancy when trading online as people often lie about what they are offering.
