Could it be possible that she is a misinterpretation of a Genie?
Eye seem to not be able to find any myth under her name (only things regarding
with pot and weed), so perhaps she is based on a creature from D&D?

Her Japanese name was listed as "Tsubo Majin". In Japanese culture the majin closest resembles the myths of the arabic djinn. Also, a tsubo, while translated as pot, coould mean a container (including a the type of lamp represented in the genie myths). That being the case, it's entirely possible she is an MG based on the genie of the lamp. Unfortunately, she doesn't grant wishes though.

In this hellish setting everything is after you, even your lamps (chochin-obakes).
But that aside, the Pot Devil, being a "bastardized" djinn, would also be included into
the Desert dwellers, if it weren´t for the fact that no human population is stated or
hinted to exist in that region.

However she could wait for men inside the treasure chambers of the desert´s
many ruins, however she will be most likely be looked down in favour of the more
appealing Mimic´s treasure chests...
