@Helios:
The first video, the player, (chuggaaconroy) was looking for a koffing, and when he found one, it happened to be a shiny, and he freaked out.

The second video is where the same player, (again, chuggaaconroy) is fighting groudon, and while he's talking about it being ninth anniversary of Pokemon ruby sapphire and emerald, he manages to catch the groudon, in almost full health, in a nest ball, where he screams with excitement in a rather high pitch voice.

@jin:
Haha! I knew what those videos were before watching, just by the picture they show.
But heck, I watched them anyway because he is hilarious! Chugga's awesome!

I have racked up a total of 114+ gameplay hours so far, not even close to transferring my pokemon from my pokemon white to my white 2. And currently trying to catch an Attack Ev and hopefilly IV regigigas with back SP attack seeing as how SP attack would be meaningless for Regigigas

Also got pokemon dream radar to get all therian forms of Tornadus, Landorous, and Thundurus. I managed to also catch the hidden abilities legends Lugia, Dilaga, Palika, Ho-oh, and Giratina. Man loving that Dream radar app so far

About the Dream Radar. First, how exactly does it work? The description I read was a little vague.

And is getting it as simple as buying a point card from Gamestop and downloading it on the DS?

Pretty much the impression I get is it's a Pokemon-catching game in the vein of that one head game that came bundled with the 3DS.

I do know, however, that the Pokemon you get from it come with their Hidden Abilities (some more terrifying than others).

And yeah, you would most likely be getting it by buying a point card from Gamestop, using it to charge your account (the individual 3DS system itself seems to sort-of-count-as-an-account, if mine is anything to go by), and purchasing the game from the on-console online shop.

If you do, please tell us what it's like~

The Dream Radar is kinda like being a Ghostbuster. You shoot clouds to power up your beam as well as find items and non boss Poekmon. The bosses are the Kami trio and if you happen to have the 4th gen games you can unlock the mascots as bosses.

Here a bit about how it works. Dream radar starts you off with alowing to see about 5 dream clouds, Pink ones accumulate dream orbs which act as money, per each 5 dream clouds that are pink, black ones appear that may contain either pokemon, items, or more orbs. When it's an item/pokemon, the dream, a circle like pokeball appears and starts to fly around, use your laser to catch them by repeatedly pressing A until it's caught. Items and pokemon that appear depend on the color of the Orb.
-Orange
-Green
-Blue
-Pink
Are all the colors, and yes, every pokemon you catch has an hidden ability. So it's actually worth it. Eventually as you accumulate more dream orbs, you get a chance to access special areas that let you catch the therian forms of Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorous. And as I said, this game also has Gen IV game compability with Diamon, pearl, heart gold, soul silver, and platinum. This game cost an approximate of $3-4 dollars online and of course, only for the 3DS. If you have a 3DS, then you can send them to your pokemon black 2 or white 2 through unova link. That's all there is to it

Only for 3DS ehh? Well that sucks.

---

Here's what I did last night. First I fished up a Krabby in Virbank just like Jinouga said. But it was a high level, so I caught both male and female and took them to the daycare. It took three eggs before I got the male I wanted, and it just happened to have an awesome ability that the first two didn't have. Shell Armor, which prevents it from being critically hit.

Now I have to get my head around this EV training. I have the basic idea, but there's still some questions.

1: How many EV points does it take to level up a stat. I read it was 4
2: When you level up, does it erase the EV points you built up that didn't add up to 4, or whatever it takes to get an extra stat point?

@ 1: Yup, it's 4.
@ 2: EV's aren't consumed or lost from anything, actually. They're, if anything, a tally in the background. You can only have 255 in a single stat, and only 510 total on a given Pokemon, and a Pokemon ends up with 1 point in the stat for every 4 values, and their stats get re-calculated according to this after each battle (in Gen V) or level-up (in Gen III-IV . . . except for Pokemon who change forms in Gen IV, which instead get the values re-applied each time they form-change).

For a bit more in-depth shenanigans, open the spoiler below. (And even if you already know what's in the spoiler, I figured I'd get it out there in-general because EV training is deep freakin' wizardry and any help I can give, I'll give.)
Spoiler: show
Beyond the above, the Macho Brace and the Pokerus both each double the number of Effort Values given to the Pokemon holding/affected-by it. (e.g., Gastly gives 1 Special ATK EV normally per knockout; with Macho Brace on, that would be 2 EV's, and if the Pokemon with the Brace had Pokerus that'd be 4 EV's) . . . and since Gen IV, there's also a set of equips that instead of doubling the values, adds 4 of a given EV type to the Pokemon in addition to the values acquired from the battle to start with (Power Weight, Power Bracer, Power Belt, Power Lens, Power Band, Power Anklet) . . . and that additional 4 EV's can be doubled by the Pokerus as well! (So while holding the Power Anklet, a Pokemon would get 1 SpATK EV and 4 Speed EV's, and a Pokemon with the Pokerus would get 2 SpATK and 8 Speed. Fun!)

EXP. Shares will also allow the Pokemon getting the shared EXP to get EV's from a fight as well, though boosts from items and Pokerus (Macho Brace, Power Weight, etc.) don't transfer through the EXP Share (so a Pokemon holding a Power Anklet going against a Gastly would only share the 1 SpATK EV, as the 4 Speed is from the Anklet) . . . though if the Pokemon equipped with the EXP Share is infected with Pokerus, they will get doubled EV's!

Vitamins (HP Up, Protein, Iron, etc.) add 10 EV's to a given stat (which one is pointed out by their text), up to 100 in a given value . . . and just in case something goes screwy (e.g., you decide you want to go mixed sweeper instead of purely physical, or you ended up grinding on the wrong Pokemon), from Pokemon Emerald onwards there's Berries you can feed your Pokemon to remove EV's while making them friendlier (10 for each berry fed, and in Gen IV games if the EV's in the stat were over 100 it gets dropped to 100 before they start doing 10-per-berry) -- Pomeg, Kelpsy, Qualot, Hondew, Grepa, and Tamato for HP, ATK, DEF, Sp.ATK, Sp.DEF, and Speed respectively.

The Wings you find in Gen V also do what Vitamins do, but instead of 10 per it's only 1 per, in exchange for not being subject to the 100-EV limit (you can feed them as much as you'd like, all the way up to 255, and they'll register).
For easier grinding, here's a handy Bulbapedia article listing the effort values various Pokemon give, so you can CTRL+F your way to a more potent Pokemon powerhouse. A definite time-saver!

EV's have been around since Gen I, actually -- though, if anything, Gen III and on they've been extremely simplified -- the whole thing used to be reliant on a math formula, but it's now much less complex so that it's not madness to attempt it.

And even with all this, it's still always been "I'ma earthquake all you muthafuckas!" -- just that EV training ramps it up to "I'ma earthquake all you muthafuckas, and you ain't gettin' back up!"

You don't need to do it in the main story (though it does help some), but in competitive/online play it's fairly common. (And me, I personally enjoy doing it because, well, it's bringing out a Pokemon's full potential; color me Colress, but that's how I roll.)

So why bother battling when you can collect wings?

Because that's 255 wings to up a stat to maximum, so that's a lot of collecting and a lot of hitting the 'A' button to feed them all 255 Wings; meanwhile, if you do stuff like get your Pokemon infected with the Pokerus and slap one of those Power equippables on them, or give them a Macho Brace, the battles will do the deed much quicker. It's all a matter of where you go to do the training.

(In fact, Gen IV's Pokemon D/P/Pt was pretty much one of the best games I EV trained in, especially for Special ATK with how that Chateau had nothing but the Gastly family encounterable wild -- all of whom give Special ATK in increasing amounts -- and for Speed and ATK with how early routes had stuff like Zubat [1 Speed] and Kricketune [2 ATK; his pre-evolution gives 1 DEF].)

Finding small fry you don't have to super-worry about fighting, helps.
