All different kinds. Besides, while it's not perfect, it DOES have benefits after all.

Flare do you realize how many wings you'll need to boost the stas of one Pokemon to 255 each? A grand total of 1,530. And that's just for one Pokemon. Wings could be used to help but I personaly wouldn't rely only on them.Flare wrote:All different kinds. Besides, while it's not perfect, it DOES have benefits after all.

Flare wrote:Not that hard. In about 5 minutes, I got about 26 wings.
I still can't help but find that a bit inefficient; after all, like I said in the post I made, Macho Brace and Pokerus double the EV's you get per battle -- plus, an EXP Share on a Pokemon means they get EV's from that battle, too* -- so that'd be like giving both of them a feather each battle VS a Zubat or something, or two feathers per battle if it was VS a Pokemon that gives more EV's in the stat like Kricketune does.Flare wrote:All different kinds. Besides, while it's not perfect, it DOES have benefits after all.
And the more one makes use of tricks like these, the less time one spends on the admittedly-tedious grind (I tend to watch Youtube videos or TV while grinding a given mob).
Actually, only 510 total -- a Pokemon can only have 510 EV's (so some stats are inevitably let fall to the wayside). Still not what I'd rely on, though.Jinouga87 wrote:Flare do you realize how many wings you'll need to boost the stas of one Pokemon to 255 each? A grand total of 1,530. *(Though bonuses from Macho Brace and the Pokerus of the battling Pokemon won't carry over, any Pokerus infection of the Shared Pokemon does factor in . . . and with the marvels of the PC box, Pokerus spreads like schoolyard cooties.)

I admit to being a bit ignorent of some things, as I don't do EV training.

Re: Pokemon Black and White 2
Well, the spoilered bit of text I put on the previous page is a bit of a primer on the various ways to speed up EV training, so if you ever want to try to get into it that's always a good place to start -- that and comparing the list I linked to Pokemon that're in an a given area of a game (or just going on Gamefaqs, it's how I got started in the whole thing with the note that 'hey you guise Gastly gives SpATK and LOOK WHAT CHATEAU'S GOT!' [info exaggeratedly-stated but accurate, give it a shot if you're grinding that stat in Pokemon D/P/Pt]).Flare wrote:I admit to being a bit ignorent of some things, as I don't do EV training.
Also, if you find yourself in a battle with a Pokemon that gives an EV you don't want, you can just run and no EV's will be obtained -- it's only by KO-ing a dude that they get added on.

Re: Pokemon Black and White 2
I'm not sure how to find out if my EVs have been maxed. I discovered that the stats don't update on every level up. They update after 4 EVs are gained. So I was training in the usual spot with Kingler (Victory Road. Onixs and those other rock dudes galore), and the stats weren't going up anymore. I called Bianca, but all she says is that Kingler has been training really hard, or something like that.
Also, how is Musharna. I'm trying to do all the bullshit with Yancy so I can trade for a Ralts, but good god is this taking forever. For now, I'm wondering if Musharna will be any good.

Re: Pokemon Black and White 2
To be honest, I just keep a sheet of paper nearby and keep a tally of it with pencil marks. (Y'know, the ||| = 3 and for a five it's |||| with a slash through it method.) I don't recall there being any really nice way to check your EV's in-game. If you ever want to start over, start using the Dream World to farm those EV-cleaning berries I listed earlier 'cause you'll need 'em.Helios Leinheart wrote:I'm not sure how to find out if my EVs have been maxed. 116 base HP, 107 base Sp.ATK, 95 base Sp.DEF, and 29 base speed. It's pretty much a Special-attacking mind-over-meatshield. Does have the nice capacity to learn both Yawn and Dream Eater (100 power with STAB? Yes please!) as well as Nightmare, so that's a thing. Another possible fun trick it knows is that it can get Calm Mind (ups Sp.ATK and Sp.DEF by one stage each) and Stored Power, a 20-power Psychic-type move that gains an extra 20 power for each stage of stat increases it gets (so that'd be an extra 40 power per Calm Mind usage . . . meaning a full 6 uses of Calm Mind . . . *wiggles eyebrows suggestively*).Helios Leinheart wrote:Also, how is Musharna. Beyond that, though, I've not much to say on her 'cause I honestly don't use her as my Psychic of choice (Reuniclus holds that distinction for me).

Then what's your opinion on Gardevoir?
Also, what makes you choose Yawn over Hypnosis?
And also (sorry >_< ), where is the guy that reteaches forgotten moves? I need to get quiver dance on Volcarona and possible Yawn on Musharna.

Re: Pokemon Black and White 2
Ah EV's, there a bitch to raise, but here, let me help.
I'm pretty sure that Baroque already explained all of it. But let's also factor in the IV values...which most people are confused about
To put simply, IV is also an important factor in training pokemon becasue each will have a distinct different Personality description, For example, take my lvl 100 Ninjask.
Ninjask lvl 100
Naive nature
+Speed
-Sp defense
Alert to sounds
HP: 232
Attack: 251 (Max 255 EV)
Defense: 104
Sp attack: 132
Sp Defense: 111
Speed: 460 (Max EV 255)
My Ninjask has literally maced out it's speed, IV's (which was the "Alert to sounds" description is what IV it focuses on. Logic of course will say that this is part of a speed factor. There are exactly 5 Different descriptions that focus on the same specific stat that the IV states, which a total 30 different personality descriotions per each pokemon, that and the 24 different types of EV, in which a maximum of 510 per pokemon and 255 per stat for that pokemon can have. All of this makles the pokemon unique. On a side note my ninjask is the fastest pokemon I have

Is it sad that I remember when Pokemon was not about getting the best Nature and maxing it's Ev and that I remember beating everyone with Earthquake?

Doesn't work. Pidgey is a flying type. Earthquake is ground-type.

And that was indeed possible...With the exception of flying types.Jinouga87 wrote:I thought 1st Gen was about Earthquaking everything to death.
Pokémon that would normally resist ground type moves such as the ones having levitate as its ability (such as Weezing or Gengar) were still bound to suffer the "wrath of the ground" on Gen I and II (since abilities were introduced in Gen III) you could pretty much rape trhough Koga, Morty and Janine's gyms with a good Ground type move.
Those times... How I miss them <3
.P.S.:
According to base stat total is the thrid best NON-legendary Psychic type (barely beaten by Espeon and clearly beaten by Metagross), personally my favorite and the only psychic line I regularly use. Then what's your opinion on Gardevoir?
A bit frail on the physical side, but devastating when it comes to special stats. It also has a great special based movepool and can learn some interesting heavy hitter special based moves such as Signal Beam, Hyper Voice, Thunderbolt, Hyper Beam, Focus Blast and Shadow Ball via TM and Move Tutor.
Feathers,August 16th, 2014And Kaijin you are the "Perentie" of this place, IMO.

Re: Pokemon Black and White 2
Kaijin pretty much said everything I could have. She's a really, really good Psychic-type and a really, really good Pokemon in general.Helios Leinheart wrote:Then what's your opinion on Gardevoir?
(You can also use her to breed the ultimate Roaming Legendary Catcher, by getting her together with a Haunter that knows Mean Look so that the baby will have it. From there, just get it Taunt and Hypnosis before evolving it into a Gallade so that the Gallade's False Swipe can complete the moveset. There's an image floating around that explains this a bit better [and is best read in an R. Lee Ermey voice] but I can't seem to find it anywhere ATM.)
Accuracy. Sure, it takes a turn to set in, but it won't miss like Hypnosis can (and often will at the worst possible moment -- Finagle's Law is a universal constant). Plus, if it's a Pokemon you flat-out don't want them to have out, Yawn is good incentive for them to get 'em out of there. Especially painful if you've gotten some Spikes, Toxic Spikes, or Stealth Rock up and running.Helios Leinheart wrote:Also, what makes you choose Yawn over Hypnosis?
Gen I was about Tauros-with-Hyper-Beam-ing everything to death that wasn't a Ghost-type, and Earthquaking the Ghost-types. /jkJinouga87 wrote:I thought 1st Gen was about Earthquaking everything to death.Flare wrote:Doesn't work. Pidgey is a flying type. Earthquake is ground-type.
Not really sad at all. Especially as Earthquake's remained a go-to move for getting the enemy gone throughout the series. If anything, with all these ways to GROUND Flying-types that're here and there (ranging from using Trick to give them an Iron Ball, to the move Gravity, to even a move that literally smacks them out of the sky), Earthquake is having more fun than ever before.Whippe Lash wrote:Is it sad that I remember when Pokemon was not about getting the best Nature and maxing it's Ev and that I remember beating everyone with Earthquake?

Re: Pokemon Black and White 2
Thanks for that on Gardevoir. I always thought she was good. Just didn't know if there was something I was missing.
And now in other news, I learned some vital info about EV training. Turns out you will have to earn double the EVs if you breach level 50. So instead of 4 per stat-up, you need 8. I was wondering what was up with that. There's also nature, but that's a whole other level of witchcraft that I'm not going to discuss at the moment.
So now I've gotta start all over so I can get my EVs and natures right.

Don't worry Helious, you'll get used to it as you play, most of my pokemon are EV trained, but as you know, takes awhile
