Do YOU finish all of your games?
By finish I mean, do you play it all the way through to see all of the content? Is it really possible these days, with so many games and so little time?? An RPG is the easiest example, you go through the entire story and defeat the final boss. I'm not talking about being a completionist, where you get EVERYTHING and the best scores though.
Lately I've been buying too many games dirt cheap on Steam, and now I just can't finish anything it seems.. >_<
I recently quit playing Metro 2033 out of pure frustration, which is a first for me. I usually quit out of boredom or because I found a new game. The game autosaved (the game doesn't even allow manual saving...) me right after I ran out of gas mask filters and I just kept dying over and over. That's a pretty broken game mechanic if you ask me. It's a downer too, because the game was actually good, but the gas mask filter issue really screwed me over. I found out later you are supposed to walk and not jump, to save filter durations. -_- I'm a bunny hopper, so I was doomed from the start.
I'm HOPING to complete SMT IV, as I have NEVER finished an SMT game because they tend to get too grindy..
I have countless RPGs I've never finished, and I have a feeling that number will only increase. Yet I still play pointless games like LoL, every day, for at least 3 hrs day. I suppose the online multiplayer is my true bane.

Re: Do YOU finish all of your games?
I've made it an effort to make sure I complete a game, very rarely do I not finish game unless there's something outside my own control that obstructs it.
Heck, there are times, I re-beat games for fun and the satisfaction of seeing it all the way through.

Re: Do YOU finish all of your games?
I miss the old days of beating games when I had a lot of free time.
One thing I've never done is re-beat a game all over again. After the first round I become bored with games, especially RPGs. I've tried, but never wind up finishing it. My favorite part of a video game is the "new experience" in most cases. I quickly become bored with going through repeat stories and reliving the same things over again after the first run.

I rarely finish any-Ohh! Shiny!
Anyway, I DO finish some games, but since most games(Specialy RPGs) have a lil' too much grinding near the end, I often quit them for a while and pick them up later(This ``Later´´ can even various years).

Some games have more than one ending(and at times, you initially didn't get the ending you want so it's good to rebeat to get the ending you desire). Personally, I like re-beat games in the same reason some people re-watch movies and re-read books. Somethings you just plain didn't notice or let what happen sink in the first time you play. Sometimes it takes a second or third playthrough to truely be immersed in the full story. Heck, I hear the first persona game remake takes two playthroughs to get the Full experience.Feathers wrote:I miss the old days of beating games when I had a lot of free time.

I try to, but if it's just something to kill time, then I rarely finish it.

Most of the games I play, I would finish it for the plot, but being a completionist is a very rare task I have or care.
Though my early years of completionism stemmed from the Xbox 360 achievements, but when the PS3 utilized trophies I kinda stuck to that instead.

ALL my games? No...that would be QUITE hard, considering how many I have between 3 consoles (NES, SNES, PSX) and the computer. I do try to finish them, but there are those that are very hard to *finish* (the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, for example).
Mina and Cassandra prove that you CAN have light and dark together!

Re: Do YOU finish all of your games?
I usually consider a game finished when i completed the storyline in multiple difficulties.
Playing a game specifically for getting achievements, hidden items and such kinda distrachts from the atmosphere the game is creating, and it gets boring really fast IMO.
Also, i dont play a lot of these kinds of games anyway, Just some HAWKEN, minecraft and an eroge once in a while.
(just finished Koihime Musou, awesome)

Yeah, that's the 2nd best Eroge I've played in a long time(2nd only to Kamidori). It has sooooooo many types and subtypes of Tsunderes, with beautiful art and a wonderful music..... Wish there were more translated Base Son games.[BRindustries] wrote:(just finished Koihime Musou, awesome)
Btw, did you got the True End(Think of Everyone), or just the normal one(Think of <One of the Main Girls' Name>)?

Ending wise, I tend to go for the ending that I like best, then watch the alt. endings on youtube.

Re: Do YOU finish all of your games?
Judging from your description, it appears i got the normal one, since in every home base phase the first thing i did was go to Aisha, and then just go back and forth between the rest (Kazuto's a true player). Though my absolute favourite will always be Ren-chan~.Blake81 wrote:Btw, did you got the True End(Think of Everyone), or just the normal one(Think of <One of the Main Girls' Name>)?
I'd love to try and get the true end, but at the moment i just dont have the time (and patience) to do another complete playthrough.
