A game like Colosseum or Gale of Shadows but bigger and more varied.

Seems Pokemon can go Mega by touching a stone on the attack interface screen while holding a Mega Stone. You can go mega and attak the same turn.

I've been hearing a lot of hate for the Mega's however.
It's not that I hate it... But I'm not thrilled by the idea either.
A temporary change in battle looks...way too "digimon-ish" to fit IMHO.

Also look the ones who're getting the change: Blaziken, Lucario and Ampharos are among the best of their respective types, they didn't really need the change (Ampharos kind of needed that speed boost... but I hope you get my drift).
Then there's Mewtwo... Mewtwo is one of the legendaries with the highest base stat total, that guy is a total beast already (the only thing it lacks to become broken tier is the spoon of death from Pokémon Adventures), did it really need a boost that badly?

Then there's the ones who needed that change... Absol desperately needs an evolution, its stats (other than its physical attack) suck...tyranitar balls. And the only game where we could've seen an Absol evo was...Pokémon Vega (an extremely great Pokémon Fire Red hack). This mon needs a permanent change not a five minutes one.
The same can be said about Mawile, the poor critter has one of the lowest base stat totals against the steel types (only the basic forms such as Aron, Magnemite, Beldum or Bronzor have lower stat totals but they far outshine Mawile once evolved). Like Absol this one needed a permanent change not a five minutes one... Howver I think that Mawile will be the first Pokémon to truly benefit of its new dual typing (Steel/Fairy).

And finally... there's Kangaskhan...
The idea of having the baby leave its pouch and attack is kind of neat, the idea of being in a double battle without being in one is kind of a fresh concept... But I don't know... if they were bright enough to make the baby move for the first time in 15 years, couldn't they... I don't know... LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE AND FINALLY ADD A FRIGGIN' BABY FORM?

I mean c'mon... They've created quite a few of baby forms, some that wasn't even necessary (Azurill wasn't that much of a necessity... specially considering how early evolves Marill), it's a about time to see a baby Khan already? Seeing a mother carrying a baby in her pouch just after hatching from an egg is NOT NORMAL is like a woman giving birth to... a 4 months pregnant woman.

My thoughts exactly

I appreciate the efforts they're taking in revamping the series... But revamping doesn't mean throwing common sense and coherence away.
And Kaijin you are the "Perentie" of this place, IMO.

Chansy's the same way unless you evolve a Happiny. I like Mega idea and want to see more. Don't forget thought Mega's will get base stat boosts. Mega Absol get an Attack and Speed boost. Mega Mawile gets Defense and Special Defence. Mega Lucario gets Attack. I'm waiting to see who Goes Mega next.

They get stat boosts... But they are still temporary.
Absol doesn't really need an Attack boost (it's the only good stat they have so far), but the speed boost is indeed nice (how can be a lithe looking and feline based Pokémon be so slow to begin with?).
Mawile desperately needs those defensive boosts (it's incredibly frail for a steel type), but a permanent change/evolution (and a proper movepool) would give us reasons to... actually use it.

And have you seen Lucario's attack stat? It's already a beast as it is! That thing doesn't need a boost change... On the other hand pokémons like Sableye, Farfecht'd, Stunfisk...

*Kaijin envisions a Mega Sableye, a badass 1.2-1.5 m tall, demonic pokémon with crimson bloody claws and huge bat like wings sprouting from its back
*Kaijin drools

.P.S.: You forgot the most important change about Mega Mawile... it will have huge power as its ability (its attack stat will double).
.P.S.: Also Mega Ampharos will be Electric/Dragon... About time... Ampharos' Japanese name literally means "Electric Dragon" (Denryu), it took them long enough to realize that...^^U

I kind of like how Mega Charizard looks.
If it actually became Fire/Dragon when "evolving" I would agree with you, but it's still Fire/Flying which still flaws it (the ability acquired is cool though. Drought= Perpetual Sunny Day= Insta Solar Beam= 100% Accurate Fire Blast).

The same can be said about Megastoise... Which is still pure water... Blastoise SHOULD HAVE BEEN MEANT TO BECOME Water/Steel as soon as Steel was introduced in Gen II (I mean c'mon...That Gamera wannabe has two friggin cannons bigger than its limbs attached on its back for Lord Odin's sake!), its ability is kiiiiiind of nice (yeeeeeah...not really)...but pointless on it. Megastoise gets Mega Launcher which powers up Water Pulse (move that is relatively weak and usually replaced for good with Surf, Hydro Pump or Hydro Cannon) and Dark Pulse (Which is IMPOSSSIBLE to learn by other way than hacking by the Squirtle line)... Bravo Game Freak... You botched this one up epically.

However, we have a winner on Megasaur, its dual typing is still the same (there was no solid reason for it to change) and its looks are kind of meh (when Mega Mawile looks the most badass pokémon in comparision to you...you have serious issues), but its ability is GODLIKE.
Megasaur got Thick Fat when evolving, meaning that both Fire and Ice damage got halved, meaning that it got rid of two weaknesses (Fire and Ice do neutral damage on Megasaur) and only has two actual weaknesses (Flying and Psychic).

It took Game Freak six generation to actually make the Bulbasaur evolutionary line truly shine, hooray?

Derphog must die.

Post by Kaijin »

Great... More Megabroken mons...
They can't give us Mega Dunsparce, Mega Sableye, Mega Audino, Mega Druddigon or Mega Kecleon... Noooooo... They must break even game even more (Garchomp was banned for competitive gaming on Gen IV, Blaziken is currently banned for competitive gaming due to Speed Boost (ability that retains when Megavolved))...

Image
...Joy...¬¬

Back to starters... Derphog looks even derpier, getting a NON reptilian grass starter breaking a 5 generation tradition (sin that I only forgive to Orchynx (see my current avatar) and that's because its typing is godly (Grass/Steel)) was not enough of a heressy it seems... Its evolution looks like the unholy spawn of a Pignite and Silver the Hedgehog.

Luckily there's something nice out of that bunch of news, a pure fire type starter evolution? a non fighting/fire type starter? That's a godsend, that's a blessing! The only thing that I could make it better is a final evolution being Fire/Psychic! Destroying a Mega Blaziken with a non megavolved fire type? Hell yeah!

If I ever get a 3DS (Or someone decides to toss me a 2DS because of...yeah...¬¬) I have starters set in stone for this game: Fennekin and Bulbasaur (since that's my trademark Gen I starter (75% of the time, the other 25% being Charmander) and it's the only Kanto starter to get a decent Megavolution as I already mentioned a few days ago).

.P.S.: Chigorasu is kinda cool, and Rock/Dragon typing? It could end up being the best fossil type since Aerodactyl.

Smogon.
Nintendo loves broken things, have you ever taken a look at Smash Bros tier lists and Match ups? If it were for Nintendo all Pokémons would be uber.

(By the way only Speed Boost Blazikens are banned, Blaze Blazikens are still fine to use).

Smogon sucks. The only things they've given that are useful are Tiers and some other terms like Ice Bolt. Other than that they suck.

Well...Nice to know (I guess)
At the very least they try to bring some balance (thing that neither Big Red N nor Gamefreak themselves never bothered to do for any of the games they made).

.P.S.: And yeah, I kinda think that a pokémon with 120 base physical attack and 110 special attack (able to tear you a new arsehole in one way or another) with the ability of increasing speed by any turn it's alive is kind of broken (specially compared with both other fire starters and the other speed booster users). Regardless of who says it, that's the way I see it.

A main issue I have for them is they ban Stuff that boosts evade instead of coming up with a counter measure. Speed Boost Blaziken is hard to stop but nothing is unbeatable. It's like Smogon hasn't heard of the move Haze or something.
