Re: [3DS] Pokemon X and Y
A new pokemon has been leaked. It'll be an evolved version of Litleo.
and some new info regarding statuses.
"Some more changes regarding types have been announced; Ghost types are no longer affected by moves that prevent fleeing such as Mean Look. Grass Pokémon can't be seeded or affected by moves such as SleepPowder or Stun Spore. Electric types can no longer be Paralysed"

Re: [3DS] Pokemon X and Y
So much hype about all the Mega evolutions, but no remarks on how they've confirmed the type effectiveness of Fairies?
I'm starting to feel bad for Yveltal -- unless he's somehow got some Fire, Poison, or Steel moves worth mentioning he's kinda at a disadvantage VS Xerneas.
. . . not to mention they seem to be being primed to be serious dragonslayers -- immunity to Dragon-type attacks (goodbye STAB)? Super Effective against Fighting, Dragon, and Dark types? It certainly adds up to that.
On the other hand, they're weak to Fire, Poison, and Steel, and while the Poison part of the equation leaves a fair bit to be desired there's plenty of fire amongst Dragons and upon further research I'm rather surprised at how many different Dragons can get Iron Head or Iron Tail . . . so something tells me this is going to be a fair bit like the revival of the Dark World archetype in Yu-Gi-Oh; they're primed to do some serious damage, but they're just going to get sided into the moment they hit the scene.
I'm still cringing at the immunity to Dragon-type moves, though. And at how Dark/Flying Yveltal has a type disadvantage against its fellow version mascot that I don't see getting mitigated yet. When he's the one whose version I pre-ordered.

Leech Seeded Interest
Grass type pokémon have ALWAYS been inmune to Leech Seed.Grass Pokémon can't be seeded
The only explanation I can muster to such inaccurate statement is that every seed based move (either offensive or status inducing) won't affect them anymore....which would mean that Worry Seed (status), Bullet Seed (Offensive), Seed Bomb (Offensive) and Seed Flare (Offensive) will follow Leech Seed's suit and not affect grass types anymore.
...or that Game Freak doesn't even know its own series anymore (for claiming something that has been around since Gen I as a groundshaking novelty).
...or that Game Freak is mixing ANIME and GAME continuities (while Grass Types are inmune to Leech Seed in the games, in the anime they're affected by it...because of...yeah).
.P.S.: Am I truly the only one who is eagerly waiting to Ground types being inmune to static once and for all? I mean come on, they're inmune to electricity... how can they be affected by static electricity then?

Fairy is NOT weak to Fire just resists Fairy. Like how Water resists Steel or Grass resists Elec. Or Fighting resists Bug.BaroqueSieben wrote:So much hype about all the Mega evolutions, but no remarks on how they've confirmed the type effectiveness of Fairies?

Pokéfairy to the rescue
I thought you liked Gardevoirs...I will have at least one fairy, and it will probably be Sylveon. ^^
...Not to mention that the possibility of having dual Fairy/Flying type Pokémon is still there...
___________________________
Ok then... About Fairies (to clear misundertandings in this thread):
Super Effective against (x2 damage dealt): Dragon, Dark, Fighting
Weak Against (x2 damage received): Poison, Steel
Inmune against (Damage received =0): Dragon
Not very effective against (x1/2 damage dealt): Fire, Poison, Steel
Resistant Against (x1/2 damage received): Fighting, Dark, Bug
And with this I hope that pretty much everything about fairy type is fine, dandy and clear.
.P.S.: That chart only applies to Pure Fairy types, the dual types would have different coverage (Gardevoir would possibly end up having neutral damage (x1) against Poison, Dark and Bug, be super effective against Poison and have a crippling ineffectiveness (x1/4 since both of its types are ineffective) against Steel for instance).
Gardevoir, the only pokéfairy able to deal with her poison.

Gardevior's type combo takes away her weakness to dark and bug and makes her resist Fighting twice as much.

Hmm nah, not really, never had one. I collect her art for this forum though. I'm not a competitive player so match ups don't matter to me really. Single player here.Kaijin wrote:I thought you liked Gardevoirs...I will have at least one fairy, and it will probably be Sylveon. ^^

My bad; I was just looking at the Bulbapedia chart when I was typing that post up and I crossed wires upstairs I think.Jinouga87 wrote:Fairy is NOT weak to Fire just resists Fairy. Like how Water resists Steel or Grass resists Elec. Or Fighting resists Bug.
I will say, though, that this does still put Yveltal at a bit of a disadvantage, and that Salamence is still a menace to Fairies the way Fairies are a menace to most Dragons. And that people are going to start teching Iron Head or Iron Tail onto their Dragons in Gen VI.

Re: [3DS] Pokemon X and Y
Technically speaking it would make it only weak to Steel.Jinouga87 wrote:Gardevior's type combo takes away her weakness to dark and bug and makes her resist Fighting twice as much.
Thus, being the first Fairy Type that sees itself fully benefitting of its new dual typin.

Psychic doesn't resist Poison so gardevior is weak to Poison, Steel and Ghost.Kaijin wrote:Technically speaking it would make it only weak to Steel.Jinouga87 wrote:Gardevior's type combo takes away her weakness to dark and bug and makes her resist Fighting twice as much.

I forgot about ghost... Never post anything right after waking up or you'll make a moron out of yourself (But then again better you than anyone else though, that's a valuable lesson that this forum taught me over and over).
Gardevoir weak to poison? Dang! I hope that they retcon the whole psychic-poison thing or they're gonna ruin Gardevoir completely (Gastly evolutionary line raping it in whatever way they want? Absolutely not cool! It's as uncool as a Jigglypuff sodomizing a Hydreigon).
Oh well... It looks like Mawile will be the only one decent when it comes to weakness coverage (only fire and ground, since Steel resists itself, it's inmume to poison and Fairy resists Fighting).

Funny you mention rape since there's quite a bit of fan art about that. Mawiles is indeed the best. Also seems grass now can't behit by spore moves and Elec can't be paralyzed. New stuff all around.Kaijin wrote:I forgot about ghost... Re: [3DS] Pokemon X and Y
J: Never mattered too much, Pokemon is an easy game for me, but I don't mind. I beat Black with mostly a Lilligant and Blue with Gyarados. Never played the other gens so I don't know if they were harder or no. I have SMTIV for the other type of playstyle and the more "mature" approach to the whole monster collecting genre.

Re: [3DS] Pokemon X and Y
Well, it helps that Lilligant kinda destroys most things she's not weak to in main-game (I speak from experience as well, as they pretty much give you one with a moveset well-geared towards draining things to death, stalling status effects included, from just catching one).Feathers wrote:I beat Black with mostly a Lilligant and Blue with Gyarados.
Me, I love applying heavy strategy in my main-game Pokemon runs (not full-on EV training, but at least figuring out movesets and type coverage -- hence why Lilligant was such an incredible find for me in my White version), especially because that usually ends up determining how much I end up needing to sink into Potions instead of Pokeballs. Seeing things like how the new Fairy-types will function turns out to be rather nice -- however, it's for this love of strategy that I come out here to muse on something I just found out, even though it's probably old news by this point.
As much as Rock/Ice is a disaster waiting to happen (holy fuck do they get punched out easy with Fighting attacks), the new fossil Amaura has a fantastic-looking ability that I hope to see on more Ice-type Pokemon: Refrigerate. The very idea of seeing all those Normal-type moves that're 'oh, that's okay' getting turned into Ice-type moves with STAB is positively wonderful, and I hope they make more abilities like this for this Gen as this very concept of changing the types of moves through an Ability intrigues me.
So yeah; as cool as it would be to get a T-Rex Pokemon (and our first actual Dragon-type Fossil, thank you Lance), I'll probably do my best to get the Amaura instead of the Tyrunt if I'm not locked into the jawesome tyke by merit of my version for some reason or other.
What about you guys? Does Amaura allure you with its Ice-type enhancement, or do you feel that Tyrunt takes home the gold with its high-power bites?

Re: [3DS] Pokemon X and Y
Typewise.Mawiles is indeed the best.
Its brand new dual typing means that for the first time in 3 generations it will have its movepool thoroughly revised and it will possibly stop being lackluster (And hopefully improved to be useful for once). But it's still too early too see if its stats will be modified (Mega Mawile will have an attack stat higher than Excadrill and Metagross thanks to its Huge Power ability, but normal Mawile also needs a stat buff of some sort).

Re: [3DS] Pokemon X and Y
I always use the Pokemon that I think are cute, and Lilligant I never thought would become so powerful (she was balance as a Petalil) wound up being my pride and joy. ^^ Guess I got lucky! I still had Sawk (the one non cute exception!) to help out though at times. But my Swanna and Unfezant mainly became my emergency Pokemon. I used Vulpix once for the Ice gym and he decimated them despite being a really low level. ^^; My Gothorita (who never evolved due to non use) almost never saw game time. Pity too, since I EV trained her so hard.
I plan on using a bred Petalil in PX as soon as possible and have her as my starter. ^^ I wonder if her look can be beaten and I will be won over by a cuter Pokemon? I doubt it!
