AN ICE MOVE THAT IS SUPER-EFFECTIVE AGAINST WATER-TYPES?!

To think that it got revealed not long after I profess wanting to get Amaura, at that; how's that for uncanny?

I'm curious, though, what Tyrantrum's going to get to make it shine in the face of Aurorus's radiance. Perhaps we'll get a Dragon-type or Rock-type 'biting' move?

Rocksaurus Rex fully evolved name is silly as heck (Tyrannosaurus + Tantrum), it's dual typing, design and ability are kinda cool though (the ability usefulness depends on Dramazilla's movepool but still).

The other has a crappy dual typing (quad weakness to both Steel and Fighting), but its design isnt' half bad (we already had a sauropod line (Chikorita) but it was based on Brachiosauridae, so it's okay to have one based on Diplodocidae) and it's abilty can be godly (turns all normal type moves used by it into STAB ice type moves (and buffing them up in the process)... Moves like Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Body Slam, Return... turned into Ice STAB moves...)

.P.S.: Who needs fairies having Kickass-docus?

From Derphog to Pingas Lord? Boy that would be the most epic transformation seen on a starter ever.

By the way... It's just me or the Kalos' fossils will have a crapload of weaknesses?

The tyrannofossil [Rock/Dragon] would be weak against: Steel (x2), Fighting (x2), Ground (x2), Dragon (x2), Ice (x2) and Fairy (x2)
While the diplofossil [Rock/Ice] would be weak against: Steel (x4), Fighting (x4), Ground (x2), Water (x2), Rock (x2) and Grass (x2)

That's a record, since it even beats both Aerodactyl and the Archen evolutionary line (Rock/Flying has five weaknesses while these two new dual typings have 6 (and Rock/Ice have two quadraweaknesses) each), hopefully their stats will make up for having that many weaknesses (their abilities do, specially the diplofossil...boy that ability is gonna be kickass).

And now we got an evolved form of Honedge....

Ladies and Gents... I give you "Doublade."

And also, some mechanic changes.

Pokémon gain experience even when the opposing wild Pokémon is caught (as stated in another interview). A caught Pokémon gives the same experience points as a defeated one.

Sky Battles are limited to Flying-type Pokémon and those with the Levitate Ability (as previously confirmed). Some moves can't be used.
There is an adjustment to the inheritence system of breeding.

Ghost-type Pokemon can freely escape from battle without being influenced by Shadow Tag. (The official website mentioned trapping moves.)

The item Exp. Share will revert to Exp. All as in Generation I, where when one Pokémon holding this item participates in battle, all other Pokémon in the team receive experience as well. Unlike in Generation I, the experience is not split but rather received by all Pokémon. This means that the participating Pokemon receive 100% experience, while non-participating Pokémon receive 50% experience.

When distributing new moves and abilities, priority was given to new Pokémon.

The CGI style is different from that of Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Battle Revolution, because those games were supposed to emulate "realism within fantasy". Since the handheld Pokémon series is supposed to be accessible to everyone, battles were made "cuter".

The standard selection process for Pokémon to be Mega-Evolvable is based on three points: visual looks, popularity and game balance.

The power-up of Mega-Evolved Pokemon is meant to elevate them to the class of legendary Pokémon, hence the restriction of only one Pokémon being allowed to hold a Mega Stone during battles.

The timing to Mega-Evolve is selectable.

Some moves, with focus on special ones, have had their power and accuracy revamped.

Doublade, huh?

The dual typing up until gen V was badass (or would have been if some line had it back then), inmunity to fighting thanks to ghost and neutral damage to dark thanks to steel, meaning that it would only have three weaknesses: Fire, Ghost and Ground.
On Gen VI is still a great typing, but steel doesn't add any coverage to ghost anymore since steel will be losing its resistance to dark.

I gotta admit that I love Honedge design, but Doublade's is just...silly... (Maybe it's just me but when I imagine I dual blade the image it comes to my mind are those like Zidane's and Serge's double edged blades)... but it doesn't surprise me that much since it was done quite a few times in the past: Magneton, Dodrio, Ductrio, Klank, Klinklang, Weezing (to an extent)...

But if it's stats and movepool are as okay-ish as if its dual typing I guess I'll give it a try anyway.

.P.S.: The experience changes are nice though (and a blessing for Nuzlockers)

Possible leak of the final evolved forms of two of the starters.

Image

I can see Fennikin now becoming a Fire/Ghost type so easily.

And sadly, nothing for the Chespin one... so have a cute animation instead.

With how Honedge unsheathes itself in-battle . . . Doublade may have a sort of twin-blade fighting stance, mayhaps? It'll certainly look really cool if it does.

I'm certainly looking forward to see how it goes, especially with how it apparently will still have No Guard -- here's hoping for some high-power, low-accuracy moves and good speed to back them up!

Grass/Steel.
The most retarded looking Kalos starter line, the ugliest abomination among six generations of starters (it even makes Pignite look dashing) actually being useful? Derphog having the second most wonderful dual typing (Water/Ground... how many joyful moments you've given me so far <3) among six generations of starters?

If that ends up being true then...

Image
It's celebration time

But somehow I dubt it... That thing doesn't even look metallic in any way whatsoever (unless the third form is covered from head to toe in metallic plates), it looks like more a possible Grass/Ground (meh typing with a nasty quadraweakness included (Ice)) or Grass/Rock even (wonderful typing that compensates weaknesses from both Rock (Water, Ground) and Grass (Fire, Flying, Poison)).

But time will tell though...

.P.S.:
water/Fighting
Poliwag evolutionary line 2.0? That wouldn't surprise me being canon (is the only typing that sounds accurate).

The Youetube channel GameXplain did a video about them an looked at the names. Quilladin sounds like quill and paladin. Paladins tend to wear heavy armor. Forgadier sounds like frog and brigadier. Brigadier is a military rank in Fance. For Braixen however note it has a wand in one of the demos. So Fairy type could work since Fairy type is more magic based.

One step at a time

Don't be too hasty to jump into conclusions, since those are nothing but speculations by now.
I'll believe and consider those as an evidence the very same moment that GameFreak reveals either the typings or the movepools out.

.P.S.: Since it wouldn't be the first time that GameFreak led me to believe something inaccurate/wrong by judging the names/appearance of a Pokémon (I like millions of gamers around the world instantly thought that Tepig line was gonna be Fire/Ground when it was revealed back then for instance...).

Frogue huh... That doesn't sound like a Water/Fighting at all. Since a rogue is far from being considered something honorable or worthy of being regarded as a warrior/soldier/infantryman. Judging by its name it sounds like either Water/Dark or Water/Poison (which is a surprisingly great typing).
Which makes my previous words more solid.
Don't be too hasty to jump into conclusions, since those are nothing but speculations by now.
And even wise...

Only time will tell if the speculations running wild on the internet are true or if Gamefreak give us an unexpected twist.

*LE BUMP*

...And... Mewtwo is not the one to have more than one mega form. Charizard gets a second one: It will be Fire/Dragon (Great typing, it gets rid of water as a weakness but it regains weakness to ground though) and its ability is known as Tough Claws.
(By the way the other Mega Charizard we know is known as Mega Charizard Y now).
