There any other Pokemon that have Pixilate that you've found? (Same question about Aerilate.) It'll be good to know for future teambuilding (it never ends~).

On my own side note, a funny thing happened on the way to the forum. That is to say, in the 3rd Gym. So, for once I'm using the Spoiler tag for actual spoilers!
Spoiler: show
I was fighting that one trainer with the Hariyama that knows Whirlwind; their previous Pokemon knocked my Floette for a loop, so I switched to my Doublade to beat their next Pokemon down with Shadow Sneak . . . but, that first turn I used Swords Dance and promptly learned hey, this guy knows Whirlwind!

Of course, it pulled out my Fletchinder.

The battle played out like this: Peck, Whirlwind, Shadow Sneak (they'd pulled Doublade back out), Whirlwind, Peck (Fletchinder again). They fainted from that other Peck. It was just too silly, and the end of that battle to boot.
Needless to say, I was laughing 'til the next trainer.
I'm afraid that only Mega Gardevoir can learn Pixilate, and only Mega Pinsir can learn Aerilate :wall:

On a sidenote, I finally got all the evolution stones I can get! The only ones left are the ones for Venasaur and Blastoise.

Sylveon's hidden ability is Pixilate. Speaking of hidden abilities there's an item that allows a Pokemon to switch between it standard and hidden abilites.

Oh thanks Jin, I feel like an idiot for not knowing that considering my username

Yea, it's an ability capsule, but to get it, you have to attain a massive 200 BP points

Is this "Ability Capsule" a one-use, multiple-use, or held item?

EDIT: Also, that same Fletchinder, now a Talonflame, earlier this evening barnstormed the 4th Gym. Completely sweeped the leader with the move his badge unlocks.

Considering what move he unlocks, I am not sorry at all.

It's a recovery item that can only be used once per pokemon

"When used on a Pokémon, this item will change its ability to the other standard ability it can have. If a Pokémon only has one ability, it will not work. It will not change a Pokémon with its Hidden Ability or change a Pokémon to have its Hidden Ability"

After spending the rest of the day playing I'm now at route 8, my team is actually bigger than I thought it would be at that point, I have 5 pokemons and only one of them is more or less filler, so far its looking like this:

Lv20 Furfrou (At first I was like "Why not?" and then got attached to the big poodle, her Fur Coat ability makes very tough, never even got close to KO since I have her.)
Lv20 Vivillon (The filler, still, her Struggle Bug is surprisingly effective, especially on hordes, so I might keep her if nothing else catches my fancy.)
Lv20 Kirlia (The little bugger is a bit of a pain since his only offensive move atm is Confusion. I'm gonna evolve him into a Gallade, by the way.)
Lv21 Ivysaur (Not much to say other that I wish I didn't make him forget Poison Powder since his strongest move is currently Venoshock.)
Lv22 Frogadier (I like the frog, she's got high attack and special attack and even high speed. Also, I don't know why I often get female starters for some reason.)

While I was wandering on route 8 I ran into a Seviper horde, needless to say I was surprised to see a Zangoose among them. I found it a nice touch that they were fighting each other. (Not to mention they never even attacked my pokemon, so yay for free exp! XD)

Welp. Had another one of those Gym-stomps. My Doublade, Hilde, learning Iron Head recently was very fortuitous for the 6th Gym.
Though, regarding that same Gym (Spoilers within the spoiler!) . . .
Spoiler: show
. . . is it just me, or is it very nearly a clone of Sabrina's Gym in Kanto?
Also, erm . . . if anyone has a Dusk Stone they're willing to share, I'd be most grateful! (I've got all the moves I need from Doublade, y'see, and I'm eager to try out the evolved form's stance mechanic some.)

Serebii has all the gym leaders up already. Also seems some background stuff in battle can give you items if use certain moves.

Ah; that would be the very leader whose Gym I stomped. Let me just say that if you like her style, you're going to love her Gym's appearance.

The mechanic might be a bit obnoxious if one doesn't keep a level head, but it's a good-looking Gym.

And on the subject of good-looking gyms, I rather liked the fourth Gym as well. . . . why is it that the gyms I like are the ones I blitzed through? It's a weird coincidence.

By the by . . . (Spoiler-y question for a post-6th Gym area in the spoiler!)
Spoiler: show
Does anyone know how to be 'cool' to the punks? I'm curious what sort of outfit I need to assemble to get access to that one dude in the haunted hotel, if it is indeed an outfit I need to wear to be 'cool' to that punk. And if it's not an item, what do I have to do and/or who do I have to crumple to get in?

No need to worry if you're saving indoors; apparently it's to do with rollerskating in the streets and something about putting you on a tile you can't move on when you load the save, as far as I could tell from Gamefaqs forum talk about it.

EDIT: Oh my gods why is the 7th Gym not in 3D. Such a missed opportunity, I say as my head swims a little.

EDIT, Oct. 17th: I just beat the Elite Four, and the main game of Pokemon Y. The ending is incredible, and the credits are sublime. (Spoilers below!)
Spoiler: show
I will admit, there were almost cut onions in the room after the battle with AZ. Positively heartwarming.
I feel a bit proud, though; this is the first Pokemon game where I've gone into the Elite Four blind -- I did not look up any of the teams, or the Elite Four's types du jour, and used my main story team up to that point (in the spoiler below, as I do give away some details regarding the E4) with no editing or preparation for the enemy types beyond what I'd done in the plot (which was mainly generalization, 'something for everything'). And, though a certain Pokemon (which I will mention in the spoiler after my team) of the Champion was an unholy terror, I managed to secure the win, first try!
Spoiler: show
Uragaeru the Greninja, holding a Quick Claw (triggered against the Water E4 member's Starmie!);
Titania the Floette, holding an Eviolite (which saved her bacon more than once!);
Anubis the Lucario (yes, the one we got from the plot), able to Mega Evolve;
Hilde the Aegislash, holding an Amulet Coin and grossly overlevelled compared to her contemporaries (81 to the next-highest one, Uragaeru, at 74!);
Talonflame 'Wren', holding Hilde's Expert Belt because I'd been using Hilde to work up money for clothes prior;
and to finish it off, Tsvetan the Russian Venusaur with Mega Evolution enabled on him as well.

I hate That Woman's Goodra, by the way.
Anyone else here beat the game? (I ask, knowing full well that I'm sure to be one of the last horses crossing the finish line.)

Time to update on my playthrough! I just arrived at Snowbelle City (After a big detour to go get a dawn stone. >_>) and I think I actually have pretty strong pokemons this time around. (I have terrible luck with natures and IVs, and I'm not fond of reseting to get good ones.) Anyhow, my team is pretty much final now, so here's my lineup.

Enker, Lv62 Gallade (I actually evolved him from a kirlia very recently and haven't battled since then.)
Boney, Lv63 Tyrantrum
Squadala, Lv63 Hawlucha (I seriously fell in love with my bird luchador, her Flying Press is super strong AND it looks awesome. =D)
Gogo, Lv63 Venusaur
Lv64 Furfrou (Haven't thought of a name for the poodle yet. =/)
Lou, Lv64 Greninja

Re: [3DS] Pokemon X and Y

Post by Pokemonaces »

Okay...after playing through the game. I think it's time for my Review :goodjob:

Image

It's been nearly a week since the release of the much anticipated Pokemon game X and Y. When it hit shelves across the world, many gamestores around the world have been hit hard with die hard pokemon fans to newbie's alike. A game that promises new features and explosive 3D battles! And I myself have found my heart in continuous joy after getting my hands on one myself. So without further adieu, let's get started

Presentation:
As you start the game, you will meet the Professor of the Kalos Region named Professor Sycamore. He introduces you to the world of pokemon. He will of course as tradition of every pokemon game, ask if you are male or female, and even asks what skin color you have (Which is a first in pokemon). After selecting your name and character, you head straight through the shining door of pokemon to awake for your new adventure!

Image
Damn, look at that stylish hair :XD:

Gameplay:
The gameplay is similar to the previous Pokemon titles, but with new added features that make the game even more fun than every. Since there are alot of new gameplay features added, I will categorize it in easy to understand order :nerd:

Image

- PSS

Image

PSS or Player Search System, is a new feature added to Pokemon that let's you interact with nearby friends or strangers through Streepass and if you have an internet connection, with players from all over the world! Interacting with others has never been more accessible than this. Using PSS, you can do the following with your friends

~ Battle: Battle with your friends with negotiated battle conditions
~ Trade: Trade Pokemon with your friends
~ Game Chat: Chat with your friends (Can also be done while battling or trading)
~ Trainer PR Video: View the PR video your friend made (PR video will be explained later)
~ O-Power: Give your friends O-Power's to aid their journey

With Passerby or Acquaintences, you can do the following

~ Battle
~ Trade
~ Trainer PR Video
~ O-Power

With these features, you can trade and battle with people around the world, anytime you please. You may also get challenged by random Passerby's or offered a trade. Some might even want to see your PR Video

- Pokemon-Amie

Image

Pokemon Amie is a new feature that allows you to interact with one of your six Pokemon in your party. You may switch in between which Pokemon you want to play with, during the switch process, there are stats as followed

~ Affection: Tells how much you played with your Pokemon and how much they like you
~ Fullness: Tells how many Poke Puffs you have fed them
~ Enjoyment: Tells how much you've played with your Pokemon

You can pet your Pokemon to increase affection. Depending on where you pet them, they will react in a positive way, or a negative way, so pay close attention when petting them to know just were they like being petted. Feeding them Poke Puffs will also increase their affection for you, each Pokemon has their own taste with 5 types of Poke Puffs

Sweet
Spice
Mint
Citrus
Mocha

Find which Poke Puff they like so they can love you more. You can also play games with them. There are 3 types of games

~ Berry Picker: Where you must give the berry that the Pokemon is thinking of. You must give them the one they like quickly or they'll get impatient and leave. Feed them as many berries as you can before the time limit to get a better score.

~ Head it: Where you must prompt your Pokemon to hit a ball of yarn as they fall, time it right or you'll miss the ball. You must hit as many as you can within the time limit.

~ Tile Puzzle: Where you must reassemble the puzzle tiles into their right place. There is no time limit, but the fast it's done, the higher the score you get.

You may also decorate your Pokemon-Amie to cater to your taste. Accessories are gained through interacting with your Pokemon. You can also leave a Poke Puff there and have other Pokemon from your friends, passerby, or acquaintances eat it. They will leave behind a present for you afterwards and their gifts vary from accessories to exclusive Poke Puffs.

Finally, playing with your Pokemon can also affect their performance in battle. For example, the dialogue for your Pokemon may change during battle. It can also increase their critical hit ratio, and evasion stats as well. The Pokemon may also be able to cure themselves of any status affliction during battle, survive hits that would otherwise cause them to faint, and even give boost to experience gain, and as a little cute bonus, you may pet your Pokemon upon defeating the opposing Pokemon.

- Super Training

Image

Super training is a new, and easier way to raise your Pokemon's EV's (Effort Value). What it does is that it let's your Pokemon play a mini game where they must hit the designated goal with with their soccer ball against balloon Pokemon. Each balloon Pokemon focuses on a certain stat such as Attack or Speed. When you finish the mini game, depending on what stat the Pokemon chose, their base stat's will increase. There are 3 level's that go from increasing your Pokemon's EV's by 4, to 8, to 12. When you have a Pokemon with max EV's, they have access to Secret Super Training. While it does not increase your Pokemon's base stat's. it does give you training bags and items depending on your performance. Items gained vary from Evolution stones to items that can be sold for cash.

- Mega Evolution

Image

A first for Pokemon, Mega Evolution is a new evolution that only a few select Pokemon may attain, through it, the Pokemon changes both Aesthetically, and stat wise. Their stat's increase a large amount depending on what stat they specialize at. However these evolutions are only temporary and can only be activated during battle, what's more is that only one Pokemon may Mega evolve each battle. So Mega evolution should only be used for emergencies. Pokemon must hold what's called Mega Evolution Stones in order to evolve. A trainer must also have a mega bracelet in order to activate Mega Evolution. A strong Bond with you and your Pokemon is needed to achieve Mega Evolution. There are some Mega Evolution stones that are version exclusive, so getting them all will be difficult.

- Photos

Image

You can take photo's of certain memorable places by a guy named Phil in the game. There you can use the 3DS to take a photo of yourself. You can adjust the camera to focus on you solely, or the back round behind you. After taking a shot, it will be saved on the 3DS camera app. You can also have one Photo displayed on your Game Sync at Global Link

- Trainer PR Video

Image

Trainer PR Video's are 10 second video's that you can create to share with others from around the world to showcase yourself and your Pokemon. You can do multiple things such as different poses, backgrounds, sound effects, music, and many more to make each second of the video unique. You can also dress yourself in more styles solely for your video.

- Trainer Customization

Image

You can now customize yourself in a whole new way, making yourself look unique depending on your fashionable taste. Speaking of, fashion is a very popular trend in Pokemon X and Y, so dressing up in fancy clothing will get you noticed more in the game. Try to purchase as many as you can afford. Some clothes I must say are very expensive. You can also change your hair color, and your eye color as well.

- Horde Battles

Image

Horde Battles are wild encounters with a slew of 5 Pokemon. These Pokemon are levels under normal wild Pokemon to lessen the strain they can give you during battles. In order to catch the Pokemon in these battles, you must first defeat all 4 of the others before catching the last one. Sometimes, there will be different Pokemon in one horde battle, ranging from Tauros and Miltank, to Zangoose and Seviper.

- Sky battles

Image

Sky battle is a new feature added where you can fight trainers in the sky. Only Pokemon that can fly, or have the ability levitate may participate in Sky Battles. These battles other than allowing only Pokemon that can fly are no different from other battles

Graphics:

Image

Graphics in this game is amazing. I really do like the 3D spectacles it offers, but having the 3D on can slow the game down, so I have it off for the most part. The game does shut off 3D in certain places to reduce lag. There are still numerous people I find in the world that still think the graphics are bad. To this I only have one thing to say to them
Spoiler: show
FUCK YOU ELITIST BASTARDS! :hate:
Music:

The Music of This game is fantastic. I absolutely love it. There are a lot of Awesome battle themes that fit each certain scenarios of the game. And I'm sure you guys will love it as well.

Story:

The games storyline is very nice and touching. Play for yourself to find out :goodjob:

Conclusion

Image

In conclusion, Pokemon X and Y is an Excellent game with hundreds, upon hundreds of game play, great story, great music, fantastic new features, and new, exciting Pokemon!

Graphics: 10/10
Music: 10/10
Game Play: 10/10
Overall: 20/10 :nerd:

Well, with the Super Training, isn't that kind of pointless to travel to specific locations to do that?
