Depends on preferences I guess, personally I have trouble with the Super Training minigames because I'm left-handed. Also, with hordes you can get EVs extremely quickly, for example a pokemon giving 1 EV coupled with a power item(Power Weight, Lens, etc.) gives a total of 25 EV per fight (5 EV times 5) and using either an Honey item or the move Sweet Scent in the field guarantees encountering a horde if possible.

Also, while I was doing just that I found a shiny Vanilite, yay! (Captured it of course.)

Now I haven't beat the E4 yet, but I've been making some plans for breeding pokemon. I've hit a bit of a snag, however... I can't seem to breed any moves onto pokemon I want to use. I've gone over the egg groups of the two/three pokemon in question (was planning a chain, Thunderbolt from a Stunfisk to Gastly, then Thunderbolt & Shadowball to a Ralts)- everything seems to be in order.

And yet, I can't get any moves to be inherited by the resulting pokemon. I've even skipped Gastly (they're all in the same egg group, after all) to just give a Ralts Thunderbolt, and nothing. Has anyone else had the same problem at all? Do I have to beat the E4 before this sorta thing is possible or something? Or do the moves have to be taught via TM to the male parent (thereby ticking off some virtual box that makes it work) before breeding the move to something else?

From Bulbapedia:

The moves obtained by a Pokémon when hatching are as follows:
The Pokémon will start with any moves that it learns at level 1 (In Generation II and Generation III, they learned all moves that are level 5 and below in their learnset.).
The Pokémon will start with any moves that it would learn by leveling up only if both parents know the move. This does not apply to moves that later evolutions can learn (such as Breloom's Mach Punch, which Shroomish cannot learn).
The Pokémon will start with any TM or HM moves (and in Crystal, Move Tutor moves) that the father knows and the baby can also learn by machine.
The Pokémon will start with any Egg moves that the baby can learn and the father knows.

The moves will take precedence in the order listed, and if there are more than four moves to learn, the moves will start being overwritten much like when leveling up at the Pokémon Day Care.

Yeah... I know... and yet I must be missing something, because although Stunfisk learns Thunderbolt and Gastly (and Ralts) can learn it via TM, trying to breed Thunderbolt to either one results in nothing. Unless Gastly and Ralts learn Thunderbolt on their own via level up in this game (which, according to Serebii, at least Ralts doesn't. Gastly's moveset isn't listed there yet for Gen 6), it should pass to the resulting pokemon that hatches from an egg. That said, it has happened exactly zero times outta eight in total so far. Thunderbolt's in the third moveslot for Stunfisk, so it should be able to pass the move onto a Ralts that only normally begins with Growl, of all things.

Hmmm... Gastly may not be able to learn Thunderbolt anymore... according to this at least. Might not be fully updated though.

Makes sense to me. Though, I did try to breed Thunderbolt to a Ralts- that didn't work, but teaching it directly from the TM did. Not quite sure what to make of that...

Unless, because the TMs are reusable now, they've just decided to do away with allowing TMs to be Egg-moves? I guess that's a possibility. Seems weird if that is the case though.

They were reusable in Gen 5...

EDIT: I'm working my way through Victory road myself... when I get the chance, I'll see if at least Haunter can learn it.

EDIT 2: Haunter CAN learn it at least. So stands to reason Gastly should...

We haven't had any challenging champions since...Cynthia (both Alder and Iris are pushovers (as a matter of fact I managed to beat Iris with a Serperior only)), so it's not much of a surprise there.

For what I could see from watching LPs on Youtube, this game seems to be rather...casualized. The Super training makes EV training a joke, the Pokémon Amie helps your pokémon to land more critical hits, avoid attack more easily and even resist fainting and with the Exp.Share and the experience from catching pokémon there's no need to grind (Marriland didn't grind on his run and he was like 10-15 levels higher than the champion by just capturing wild pokémon and battling trainers).

I understand that they did this because they were focusing the game to younger audiences... But the main audience of this game is actually 20+ y.o people (I don't know about your countries but on mine the people who buy Pokémon X/Y is people from 20 y.o and older (old fans from Red/Blue days), while the average teenage/kid gamer goes straight to...Grand Theft Auto).

.P.S.:
Watching this makes me wonder.
Spain confirmed as either 7th or 8th gen region? Sure, why not.

It's not the first time it happens...

4th gen region (Sinnoh) having a French gym leader-> 6th gen region based on France.
6th gen region (Kalos) having a Spaniard gym leader (the man may have an Irish accent, but Ramos has a Spanish name and the looks fitting of a Spaniard village old man)-> ???th gen region based on Spain.

Now seriously, if a new region is bound to appear it would likely be based after either Spain or Germany, since are countries that limit with France (Germany on the East, we on the South) and that would make it easier to make a compatibility with the already existing Kalos (a la Kanto-Johto).
And Kaijin you are the "Perentie" of this place, IMO.

I did (hence why I mentioned the part about having a region based after either Germany or Spain).
However I kind of believe that if they make a Pokémon Z (or even an α and a Ω like Marriland speculated) they will be kind of focused on slightly retelling the story seen on X/Y just like Crystal did to Gold/Silver, Emerald did to Ruby/Sapphire and Platinum did to Diamond/Pearl.

It would be kind of nice to have more terrain to explore and new species to catch (and by new I mean truly new not a la Black2/White2).

.P.S.:
I hear a Ruby/Sapphire remake has been confirmed.
Do you have any source to back that statement up? It's not that I disbelieve nor belittle you, it's simply that I already saw similar statements in the path and we're still waiting to see Mudkipz remade...

I'm hoping they do make another region for Z if that does come next. Though if they did just do a static remake how the Order Pokémon would fit ino the plot.

I think they might have already given him the perfect hook in one of his Pokedex entries -- he DOES monitor the environment, after all, so . . . (Spoilers~!)
Spoiler: show
Imagine what would happen if the beastie caught wind of the bedlam at Route 10 and decided to care about it? Or, worse yet, if both X and Y were getting drained atop all that . . . Kool-Aid Zygarde, anyone?

Hehe, I guess I should contribute a little here, I've been doing so in another web, but not here.

I'm not so ready for competitive battles just yet, but I do have all the Eevee's possible evolutions super trained to their corresponding stat's (Took forever, and leveling up some of the forms were a pain >_> )

If you guys need version exclusive pokemon, ask me, I have Y.

On a side note, I hope I'm not the only one here who likes Malva, that hot tempered woman

I never thought I'd have any fun playing online but I'm having a surprisingly good time with it, and with how easy it is to EV train pokemon now I trained a bunch of different ones so I can swap them out depending on how I'm feeling. Here's my favorite ones at the moment, feel free to comment about them.
Spoiler: show
Malamar with Contrary, trained in Attack and Speed.
Moves:Topsy-Turvy/Night Slash/Psycho Cut/Superpower
Item:Black Belt (Don't know what else to give it.)

Cryogonal, trained in Sp.Atk and Speed. (You'd be surprised how many people try to Earthquake it, its only possible ability is Levitate. =/)
Moves:Freeze-Dry/Ice Beam/Protect/Confuse Ray
Item:Chopple Berry

Electrode with Static, trained Sp.Atk and Speed.
Moves:Thunderbolt/Magnet Rise/Electro Ball/Hidden Power(Dragon)
Item:Magnet

Metagross, trained in Attack and Defense.
Moves:Earthquake/Hammer Arm/Meteor Mash/Zen Headbutt
Item:Air Balloon

Ursaring with Guts, trained in Attack and HP.(Probably should've went with speed or def instead of HP. =/)
Moves:Sleep Talk/Shadow Claw/Rest/Facade
Item:Flame Orb

Vespiquen, trained in Attack, Defense and Sp.Def.
Moves:Sweet Scent/Attack Order/Heal Order/Acrobatics (I also use it to attract hordes, hence Sweet Scent)
Item:None (I'd love to have a Flying Gem but I have no idea of where to find one.)
