Sadly Flareon doesn't have the HP stat to sustain repeated use of flare blitz, not to mention it still has horrible speed, which can only remedied by flame charge to an extent. Though right now at least it gets to add flare blitz into the guts + toxic orb + facade set, the main attack would still be facade, though flare blitz is more powerful.
Hey they took a step in the right direction and it only took them six friggin' generations (wow...)
Maybe in the 7th gen it will be useful at competitive levels...

Yeah it is, but flareon is very far from being strong competitively. Mono-fire is generally not considered a good typing, fire is generally considered to be a poor defensive typing. And the lack of a secondary STAB hurt a lot.
Stat distribution is also not very good with low HP and speed. High special defense seems out of place as well. Limited offensive movepool like all eeveelutions.
If flareon wants to be good, then nothing short of adaptability+sacred fire, or something more obscure like contrary+v-create is needed.
Giving it Sheer Force and raising its base speed stat would be enough to at the very least make it decent.
(A Flare Blitz from a Sheer Force Adamant (or any other attack inducing nature) Flareon would be enough to instill some fear).

Well... I just finished the game (it took me way longer than I expected due to being unable to continue the story for more than one month... family reasons and all that stuff).
And I gotta say that the ending is kind of underwhelming... The Elite 4 while not being the hardest of the series actually had a few aces up their sleeves (like Wikstrom's Alakazam or Siebold's Dragon Dancing Gyarados) and the Champion while not (difficulty wise) on par with Cynthia at least she's not at Iris or Wallace levels (those two were both a joke and an insult as champions), but what came after the Champion battle was a letdown...
The team I used to wrap up the main game is the next one:
-Mizuki-> Greninja (Female, Serious). Lvl.78-> Surf, Night Slash, Ice Beam, Extrasensory. [Mystic Water]. She's my faithful starter and hasn't left my team since fate tied us together in Aquacorde, she has been key in my success by taking Grant, Olympia and Malva all on her own. She will only leave the team in favor of her offsprings in a hypothetical future (since the only thing that makes a Greninja better is Protean as its ability).
-Goodra (Female, Timd). Lvl.85-> Dragon Pulse, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, Sludge Bomb. [Dragon Fang]. A dear friend of mine knowing of my love for Goodra decided to give me a Sliggoo from one of his acquaintaces' Friend Safaris and since that very moment this little one has become an invaluble asset. It took ages to raise her into a fine Goodra but I couldn't ask for a better special wall.
-Mawile (Male, Adamant). Lvl.85-> Play Rough, Iron Head, Sucker Punch, Fire Fang. [Aulet Coin]. I got this little fairy from a Wonder Trade at level 1 and has grown a lot since... It feels like he's my little baby (I raised it on my own). It took out Wulfric, Wikstrom and two thirds of Diantha's team (including Mega Gardevoir) effortlessly. Once I find the Mawilite he'll shine even brighter.
-Chester-> Chesnaught (Male, Adamant). Lvl.84-> Wood Hammer, Hammer Arm, Earthquake, Stone Edge. [Miracle Seed]. Shauna must truly love me... She gave me a Chespin before getting to Dendemille (someone was heartless enough to Wonder Trade her token of love) and will give me a modest Fenekin at any moment ^^. I've stated before that I'm not the greatest fan of Chespin (having a non reptile Grass starter is like a heresy to me, Chespin is too derpy to be considered cute, Quilladin is a visual abherration and Chesnaught is Wattson's furry long lost cousin/clone), but its movepool is surprinsingly varied, giving it coverage to basically ANYTHING it's weak to... and once EV trained it becomes almost as durable as a Torterra (It's what Emboar should have been yet never was: something able to dish out and TAKE damage). I've seen this walking armaggedon taking a critical Ice Fang from a +6 attack Dragon Dancing Gyarados as if it was nothing.
I may not be the greatest fan of his line, but Chester has earned my respect (and Shauna my eternal gratitude <3).
-Skarmory (Male, Impish). Lvl.79-> Drill Peck, Steel Wing, Rock Slide, Night Slash. [Sharp Beak]. I can't understand what people thinks... Someone was dumb enough to Wonder Trade a fine specimen of the Skarmory line with a Defense inducing nature? That's madness! He may not be the strongest attacker of team nor the fastest... But his defense makes him a MUST on my team, it's one heck of a wall that has saved my behind countless times... Besides he seems to be critical happy (I've lost the time of how many critical Drill Pecks and Night Slashes he's made).
-Alakazam. (Male, Modest) Lvl.72-> Psychic, Dazzling Gleam, Shadow Ball, Thunder Wave. [Mind Plate]. Like Mawile, I got him in a Wonder Trade at lvl.1, so he's one of my "babies" too. The level difference between him and the rest is mainly due to the parts where I had to sacrifice someone in favor of HM Slave and even with that he has the highest Sp.Attack of my team, and is only outseped by Mizuki. I'll be counting on him to subdue good ol' Mewtwo.
Well, now the main run is over but the fun is far from being so... I have to explore Kiloude City and its wonders, search for all the Mega Stones (specially the Mawilite), enjoy the post game sidequests (before Flare decides to spoil them again if possible) and start making a team at competitive gaming since my friends have been rushing me to play with me. ^^

The reason why a lot of people wonder trade stuff that seem to have good nature and that is that they are generally spitbacks. Ie, if you're going to say... breed a 5IV skamory, you're going to end up with a lot of them that you don't need, in from that regard, even a 4IV skarmory is something that could would end up on wonder trade.
If you're going to start a competitive game, I high suggest you get out your BW/BW2 game and gen some stuff. While breeding in 6th gen is a lot easier now, it still takes a fair amount of time. Besides a lot pokemons need the move tutor moves from 5th gen to be at their best. Anyway best of luck.
Dont know if it'll interest anyone but....I did some pokemanz fanart a while back on deviantart....sure it's a little 18+
but goodra fanart nonetheless |3

True, one of the biggest drawbacks of the whole Gen VI is precisely the lack of tutors (there are only the Pledge moves one, and the final move for Water, Grass, Fire and Dragon), I kind of hope that Gamefreak decides to make up for it in the 7th Gen (or if they make either Pokémon Z or the Hoenn arc remakes).
Thanks for the advice and the luck.

This is actually not surprising, as they always put move tutors in the second batch of games. Ie, BW didn't have move tutors but BW2 did. Also if you play by the official rules of VGC, then you need to use Kalos bred mons anyway, so the lack of move tutors isn't really an issue.
However for online wifi, you need move tutors, moves such as defog and knock off have a wide distribution and are massively buffed this gen, not to mention most SR users learn them as move tutors.
For now, the only move tutors move worth using is draco meteor, pledges lack power and elemental hyper beams are as useless as normal hyperbeam.
I just made a pause in my dex completing (Kalos' is almost 100% by now), training, breeding, etc... In order to cover the postgame content and I just done the Lumiose/Looker Arc (which Flare partially spoiled me with all the kindness of her heart several months ago ¬¬).
And I gotta say that:
A) Emma is adorable.
B) I find really sad that a postgame event/arc happens to be plot heavier than the main arc...^^U

Back to team assessment.
Now that I've got a member on it (I mentioned that I managed to breed the perfect Scizor, now I have to raise and train him) I'm moving forward to expand it.
I've been thinking about the option of training a Prankster Sableye (with moves like Will-o-Wisp (Or Toxic), Taunt (or Confuse Ray), Protect and (maybe) Shadow Sneak it could be very interesting) but its stats kind of make me reconsider that.
For the water type I'm interested in replacing my dear Mizuki with two different sets of Protean Greninja (a special based Modest one (with Surf (or Scald), Ice Beam, Extrasensory and Dark Pulse) and a physical based Jolly or Adamant one (with Waterfall, Rock Slide, U-Turn and Aerial Ace) to keep trolling people online... But I've been also thinking of training a Moxie Gyarados (I wouldn't be Mega Evolving it though... While I like "Megados" massive stat buff, it gets a crapload of weaknesses after mega evolving and I consider Moxie to be more useful than Mold Breaker).
And I've also been considering to train a Carbink, it's a great mixed wall with an interesting moveset... sadly it can't learn Power Trick (like Shuckle), but still it should be able to tank almost anything (if I EV train its HP that is...).
Any thoughts on this? Any suggestion and recommendation even would be more than welcome ^^

(People doesn't read the news thread... You guys are gonna make Rez cry bloody tears... or something)
Well, that's pretty much obvious, considering that thery're the cover mons (hopefully Rayquaza will get one...).
And I hope that now Swampert and Sceptile will get their mega forms now, otherwise it wouldn't be fair (Blaziken got one despite not even being on Kalos's Pokédex system at all).
.P.S.: Sap Sipper Mega Swampert, Grass/Dragon Mega Sceptile... Make it happen, Game Freak, you know you want to...
And Kaijin you are the "Perentie" of this place, IMO.
1. Groudon and Kyorge will be getting animtaions when they activate their abilities.
2. Groudon and Kyorge look different than the box art in game. They keep pushing this fact.
New Megas have been announced! Mega Sceptile, Mega Swampert and Mega Diancie! Mega Sceptile is Grass/Dragon and gain Lightning Rod and the rest retain their types. Mega Swampert gains Swift Swim. Also the new forms of Groudon and Kyogre are called Primal/Prehistoric/Primeval forms.
Good way of botching a really good pokémon, Game Freak.
The game decided for me I see, Torchic it is... Since it's the only one whose mega doesn't seem to suck (Sceptile has an awesome typing but utterly innecessary pointless ability... Why something that has 1/4 resistance to electric needs Lightning Rod?)

As far as Mega Sceptile goes why do some Ground Types have Lightning Rod? I want to see the stat boosts for the new Megas first.

Competitive gaming, it comes in handy with double battles.
-Ground type attacts electricity
-Flying (or Water type) type partnered with it goes unscathed
As you can see is a wonderful way of frustrating opponents (specially if you tag team your lightning rod ground with a flying, since other than keeping it safe from electric harm you can spam Earthquake like there's no tomorrow without side effects), but for a grass type it's as useful as giving thick fat... to a fire type (thing that has already happened... hello there Tepig)

Lightning Rod grants immunity and a Special Attack boost when it draws Electric attacks so any Pokemon with it is protected. Sceptile's Special Attack is higher than it's Attack as a Mega I think it's going to gain +40 Attack, +40 Special Attack and +20 Speed
