I think it might be because we often question everything, for example, something happens in government, we question why it happened and refuse to accept it until we come to a proper solution. look at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant, the Japanese Government was lying to its own people about how bad the situation was and it was only because people from overseas and environmentalists from Japan kept pushing them that they told the truth. Our culture often tells us not to simply accept things at face valueGreySeaJones wrote: A... A member of the old Order, I suppose? Sup!
I can't agree with you at all, but to each his own.
To be honest, I haven't heard any criticism of the MGE at all from Japanese fans. It's treated as an ideal place, provided you find a monster girl who you're comfortable with (and because the place runs on Deus Ex Machina, you will.) It's... interesting... to find a lot more negative opinions here.
A good example would be a story I read about a blue slime that was NTR'ed (I despise NTR because my mind starts imagining what all of the characters in the story are going through after it occurred) by the landlord of the building the pair stayed in... I could not handle that sad ending, it literally gnawed at me mentally and physically, so I began to dig. Why would she do that if as in everything written before, they loved each other romantically and platonically? Then I started wondering what would happen after that ending? I wrote to the author and asked him if I could create a sequel, the sequel is this story: Redeeming a Shattered Dream I received more comments about the story on the MGU site, but many treat this as the actual ending of the story.
For me I don't mind a bit of darkness or grimness midway through the story, but what is important is that there is a happy ending for those who suffered in the story. As a wise sage once told me 'Even after the darkest day, the sun will shine' I actually wonder if it should rather be night
Regardless, I hope that helps you understand why there are those opinions
PS: It is very enjoyable talking to you.
