Re: Introducing the Nintendo 2DS
Errrr...what?
While it's nice to see that they brought back retrocompatibility between both 3DS and DS, I still fail to see the point of to make an intermediary system between both existing handhelds in order to solve the problem (that feature should have been included on 3DS from the very beginning).
Have Sony sold really that much PSVita(s) for Nintendo to make yet another system? One that is not even superior to the current one? It's the only explanation I can find to this turn of events.
.P.S.: Nintendo's worst idea..since the Virtual Boy. But then again, it's Nintendo so it will turn out being a best seller...

Re: Introducing the Nintendo 2DS
The downvotes for the system is quite high.
I'm happy enough with my original Saint's Row (purple) colored 3DS. It's solid, sleek, easy to carry and plays my 3DS games just fine.

Re: Introducing the Nintendo 2DS
Basically, the 2DS this is to the 3DS as the Micro was to the GBA.
Men, we led those dumb bugs out to the middle of nowhere to keep 'em from gettin' their filthy claws on Earth. But, we stumbled onto somethin' they're so hot for, that they're scramblin' over each other to get it. Well, I don't care if it's God's own personal anti-son-of-a-bitch machine, or a giant hoola hoop, we're not gonna let 'em have it! What we will let 'em have is a belly full of lead, and a pool of their own blood to drown in! - Sergeant Avery Johnson (Halo)

Re: Introducing the Nintendo 2DS
Hmm... Not exactly... GBA Micro had the exact same features than both GBA and GBA SP.
However 2DS is a nerfed down version of the 3DS.
So it would be like PSP Go was to the original PSP.

Re: Introducing the Nintendo 2DS
I beg to differ about the micro. It's a smaller version of the GBA and didn't work with most of the cable link stuff including the one used for Four Swords adventures.
It literally WAS a watered down version of the GBA and a much more expensive version due to the face place stuff.
At least with the 2DS, only ONE feature was removed, the design was meant to be a LOT more durable than it's clamshell counterpart, and actually be affordable for most people.

Re: Introducing the Nintendo 2DS
It's obviously another ploy to make more cash off of Pokemon though, it is even being released on the exact same week (or day, according to Gamestop) as X/Y.

That's why I think this damn thing is ridiculous. Why release stuff for a new system when you have a game for the current system coming out around the same time. For money yeah, but it's just damn stupid.Feathers wrote:It's obviously another ploy to make more cash off of Pokemon though, it is even being released on the exact same week (period) as X/Y.

Re: Introducing the Nintendo 2DS
Also Rez, the 3DS is not a clam shell, it's quite solid. The XL, however, is a lot more flimsy and the plastic is not as strong. The 2DS seems a lot more vulnerable to screen damage as well.
Just in: The 2DS only has mono speakers, no stereo. O_o

Re: Introducing the Nintendo 2DS
Tell that to my little brother with the broken normal 3DS. The thing keeps powering down on him even if it's fully charged. In anycase, a good solution to the mono sound is just headphones.
Point, is, it's meant to be a cheaper version of the 3DS so more people are able to get in on the 3DS library.

Re: Introducing the Nintendo 2DS
yeah, my old DS is incredibly tough. 7 years old, and still going strong... except for the shoulder buttons, which I rarely use.

Re: Introducing the Nintendo 2DS
Well, I can see why this could be a good idea other than price and durability.
With the 3d mode on the 3ds, playing for too long can lead to severe headaches, eyesight damage, and a few other side effects. This could be used, so people can play without the side effects.
Yeah, there is the parental settings and such, but let's face it... With how parents are letting their children have cellphones, these days, do you think they're gonna care about what damage the 3d affect could do to their child?

Re: Introducing the Nintendo 2DS
Honestrly this is kind of a dumb blunder that Nintendo made. 3DS was already a great portable console and you can disable 3D by parental controls or just turn the 3D off. If the kids playing the 3DS keep it on and ignore any symptoms they get from playing it, well then I honestly have to say it's really stupid.
The design is also weird...it's just flat, no flipping the 3DS open, meaning no sleep mode
Edit: NVM, it has a sleep switch...still...it will make portability, specially at the pocket less convenient
